Lead Generation by Industry: Tech and Finance Segments Compared

Trusted by790,000+ Techpresso subscribers·Editorial policy·How we make money

For lead generation by industry, Technology is the largest of the nine segments below: 3,089 decision-makers at companies of 51 or more employees, 10.9% of 28,402 Technology respondents to Dupple's post-signup quiz (5 Aug to 3 Nov 2026). For a buyer, that decision-maker count matters more than the 130,965 quiz answers. Finance and fintech pools are smaller, and every work-email figure here is an upper bound.

Quick answer

  • The B2B (business-to-business) SaaS (software as a service) row, which is all of the Technology industry, holds 3,089 decision-makers at companies of 51 or more employees (quiz answers, 5 Aug to 3 Nov 2026).
  • Fintech and payments is the thinnest pool, with 190 decision-makers at 51+ companies. Dupple's targeting has no fintech option, so the segment is built from industry and role.
  • At most 1,864 of 9,381 decision-makers at 51+ companies (19.9%) used a non-consumer email domain, an upper bound for business addresses (90 days to 3 Nov 2026).
  • Technology respondents clicked 7.0% of the offer cards they saw, and Finance & Banking respondents 7.4% (30 days to 3 Nov 2026). Role-level click rates exist only inside those two industries, and a click is not a lead.

Segments at a glance

Each linked segment name opens that segment's own page, and the Lead Generation page sets out the targeting. AI means artificial intelligence and US means United States.

Table 1: quiz segments, 5 Aug to 3 Nov 2026 (130,965 new subscribers who answered the post-signup quiz, not the whole list). Email columns use the same answers over 90 days to 3 Nov 2026 (n 130,964). The non-consumer share is a share of the whole segment; the count is decision-makers at 51+ companies with such a domain, out of the segment's decision-makers at 51+. Both are upper bounds for business addresses. Rows overlap. Source: Dupple Offer Network data, read 3 Nov 2026.

How to read the table

  • Decision-maker: a respondent who chose Founder, C-Suite or Director/VP as job level.
  • 51+: a company of 51 or more employees (51-200, 201-1000 or 1000+ employees).
  • Non-consumer email: a domain outside a list of about 50 consumer mailbox providers. The count is exact, but reading it as a business address is an upper bound.
  • Country known: a country is on record for 77.1% of all respondents. The US share is taken over that group only.
  • Small samples: any row under 500 people is marked small, with its n.

Which segments are large, and which are thin

Ranked by decision-makers at 51+ companies, B2B SaaS (3,089) and Banking and lending (1,217) lead, and Fintech and payments (190) is the smallest. The rows overlap, so B2B SaaS already includes the Developer tools people.

Every row is built from quiz answers, industry, role or both, because the Lead Generation targeting options have no SaaS, fintech, AI, security or HR-software option. Two rows are proxies, meaning the quiz segment cannot name that buyer at all: AI products (the Data & Analytics role stands in for AI buyers) and Cybersecurity vendors (Technology with Operations & Project Management stands in for security buyers). Fintech and payments is built from the Finance & Banking industry and an engineering, data or product role.

Work-email supply is thin in every row. The non-consumer share of decision-makers at 51+ companies is 19.9% for B2B SaaS (614 of 3,089), 26.2% for Martech (215 of 822), 22.8% for HR (85 of 372), 19.4% for Developer tools (113 of 582), 18.1% for AI products (63 of 349), 17.7% for Accounting (92 of 521) and 17.3% for Banking (211 of 1,217). Each is arithmetic on Table 1 and a ceiling. We found no outside, non-vendor study with a comparable work-email share for sign-ups, so these shares cannot be cross-checked.

Click rates we can measure, 30 days

A click is not a lead. The click rate is clicks per offer-card view across the post-signup offer wall, emails and partner sites, from 4 Oct to 3 Nov 2026.

Click rates we can measure, 30 days: Lead Generation by Industry: Tech and Finance Segments Compared. Last updated November 2026.
Group (offer data, 30 days) People who saw cards Card views Clicks Click rate
Technology 7,808 53,591 3,734 7.0%

Whole network (all cards) 37,942 279,365 22,388 8.0%

Table 2: offer-card views and clicks, 4 Oct to 3 Nov 2026 (30 days). People is the row's own count of respondents who saw cards. The Finance & Banking decision-makers at 51+ row is small (n = 339). Source: Dupple Offer Network data, read 3 Nov 2026.

Role-level click rates exist only inside Technology and Finance & Banking, so there is no HR-wide, security or AI-buyer rate. Technology respondents in the Engineering role (the Developer tools row) clicked 7.1% of the offer cards they saw: 939 clicks on 13,286 card views, from 1,947 people. The Finance & Banking Engineering, Data and Product roles (6.8%, 8.4%, 6.8%) are each small (n = 102, 167 and 77). The nearest independent number we found is a 2.3% unique email click rate for 2024 from the Data & Marketing Association (DMA), a UK industry body, based on seven UK email service providers. The click rates on this page are all higher, yet they use a different denominator (card views), and we found no outside benchmark for post-signup offers.

Example target, not a forecast: 100 clicks at Technology's 7.0% click rate need 1,429 card views (100 / 0.070 = 1,428.6, rounded up), or 2,000 at the US rate of 5.0%, or 1,099 at the outside-US rate of 9.1%.

To go from a click rate to a cost per lead with your own prices, use the cost-per-lead model.

How a campaign would be targeted

The Lead Generation page lists these dimensions and option labels:

  • Industry (10 options), for example Technology and Finance & Banking. Job level (8 options), for example Founder and Director/VP.
  • Role (14 options), for example Engineering & Software Development and Finance & Accounting. Company size (6 options): Just me, 2-10, 11-50, 51-200, 201-1000 and 1000+ employees.
  • Country, set at country level, with strict mode available (strict mode never shows the offer outside the chosen countries). Also device, the newsletter the reader joined, weekdays only on US Eastern time, and email domains to exclude.

A reader has to meet all the conditions of a rule to match it, and pairing Rule A with Rule B can reach both audiences with one offer. Two example rules:

  • Rule A: Industry = Technology, AND Role = Engineering & Software Development, AND Company size = 51-200, 201-1000 or 1000+ employees. Those company sizes keep 40.6% of the 6,418 people in this group. Adding Country = United States, strict keeps the 34.4% of respondents with a known country who are in the US.
  • Rule B: Industry = Finance & Banking, AND Role = Engineering & Software Development, Data & Analytics or Product Management, AND Job level = Founder, C-Suite or Director/VP, AND Company size = 51-200, 201-1000 or 1000+ employees. Before any country filter, that is 190 quiz answers (5 Aug to 3 Nov 2026), a supply count, not reach.

Unanswered company size limits supply: 9.8% of Technology and 10.7% of Finance & Banking respondents skipped it, and when an offer is set to targeted readers only, a reader with no company-size answer never matches a company-size rule.

How Dupple Lead Generation works

A new subscriber answers a short quiz, and an offer can then appear on the offer wall, in the welcome email or in follow-up emails. The reader chose to look, so that is not a request for a sales call, and it is not an exclusive lead, a marketing-qualified lead (MQL) or intent data. Set to targeted readers only, an offer is shown to the readers its rules match and to no one else; on a pay-per-lead offer, Dupple can also run a business-email check and a company-size check. The lead definition is not published, so ask us. Pricing is pay per click (CPC, cost per click) or pay per lead (CPL, cost per lead), the Lead Generation page lists no CPC or CPL price, and what counts as a lead covers the gap between a click and a lead.

For how this model compares with content syndication leads, see co-registration vs content syndication.

What offers fit

The Lead Generation page lists these offer types as the fit: broad B2B tech offers a new subscriber can use right away, free newsletters, free tools and calculators with email capture, eBooks and guides on AI, marketing and engineering, and trial signups of SaaS products with short time-to-value. A fit is not a result: the page shows clicks, not what an offer converts to.

For newsletter sponsorships instead of post-signup offers, see newsletter advertising for B2B.

The newsletter lever

The newsletter the reader joined is a separate lever. Dupple's network of six newsletters has 950,000+ subscribers in total. That is a whole-list count, not a quiz figure. The quiz has no breakdown by newsletter, so this page cannot say which one sends Technology or Finance readers.

By topic: Devshot is a daily developer newsletter, Finpresso a daily finance and tech newsletter, Cyberpresso a cybersecurity newsletter and MarketingShot a daily marketing newsletter.

What the segment pages add

The post-signup audience data page carries the full role and size tables. Its Finance & Banking decision-maker share at 51+ companies is 13.3% (1,217).

Limits

  • Self-reported, new subscribers only. Quiz answers are chosen from fixed options, and the 130,965 people are new subscribers, not the whole list.
  • Rows overlap. The 6,418 Technology engineering respondents sit inside the B2B SaaS row (all of Technology) and inside All respondents. Do not add rows together.
  • Upper bound. Personal domains outside the consumer list also count, so 12.6%, 1,864 and 614 are ceilings.
  • Small rows. The click rows of 339, 102, 167 and 77 people are small, so read them as directional.
  • A click is not a lead. Click rates cover 30 days and quiz and email figures 90 days. Neither is pro-rated or combined.
  • Unknown country, no intent data. Country is unknown for 22.9% of respondents (100 minus 77.1%), and the quiz does not show what anyone wants to buy.

FAQ

Can I target fintech companies directly?

No. Dupple's targeting has no fintech option. The segment in Table 1 is built from Industry = Finance & Banking with three roles, and that group had 1,206 people, 190 of them decision-makers at 51+ companies (5 Aug to 3 Nov 2026).

Why is the US click rate lower?

The data measures the gap but does not explain it: 5.0% against 9.1% in Technology, and 5.6% against 9.5% in Finance & Banking (4 Oct to 3 Nov 2026).

How many decision-makers at 51+ companies have a work email?

At most 1,864 of 9,381 (19.9%) used a non-consumer domain over the 90 days to 3 Nov 2026, and 614 of 3,089 in Technology did (19.9%). Both are ceilings, not counts of companies.

Do the segment rows add up?

No. The 6,418 Technology engineering respondents sit inside the 28,402 Technology row (B2B SaaS) and inside All respondents (130,965). Use each row to size one buyer group.
