What Is Wati?
Wati is the WhatsApp Business platform built for SMBs and growing ecommerce brands. Founded in 2020, Wati serves over 8,000 businesses across 100+ countries with shared WhatsApp inbox, marketing automation, broadcast campaigns, and chatbot builder on top of the official WhatsApp Business API.
The pitch matters in markets where WhatsApp dominates customer messaging. In India, Brazil, Indonesia, parts of Latin America, the Middle East, and increasingly Europe, customers expect to message brands on WhatsApp. Wati turns that channel into a real support and marketing pipeline rather than fragmented individual conversations.
The product positions between simple unofficial WhatsApp tools (against Meta's terms of service) and enterprise platforms (Twilio, Zendesk Sunshine). Wati provides official API access with SMB-friendly pricing and UX.

Connect a verified WhatsApp Business Number through Wati's onboarding. Setup involves Meta verification, business profile configuration, and template message approvals. New brands typically go live within 1-2 weeks depending on Meta's review.
The shared inbox handles all incoming WhatsApp conversations. Multiple agents see the same conversations, assign tickets, send saved replies, tag conversations for tracking, and respond from desktop or mobile. The interface looks like Zendesk but specialized for WhatsApp.
Broadcast campaigns send approved template messages to opt-in subscriber lists. Common use cases include promotional announcements, order confirmations, shipping updates, and event reminders. WhatsApp's template approval process is strict; Wati helps manage submissions.
Chatbot builder creates automated conversation flows. No-code visual builder handles FAQs, order tracking, lead qualification, and basic transactions. Integrations with Shopify and WooCommerce surface order data inside chats.
Integrations include Shopify (cart abandonment, order updates), WooCommerce, HubSpot (CRM sync), and Zapier (everything else). Custom workflows trigger WhatsApp from external events.
Wati Pricing in 2026
Growth: $49/month annually. 5 users, basic features.
Pro: $98/month annually. 5 users, broadcast lists, custom variables, chatbot builder.
Business: $182/month annually. Workflow automation, advanced integrations, more users.
Enterprise: Custom pricing for higher scale and advanced security.
WhatsApp Business API conversation costs (set by Meta) apply on top of Wati's platform fee. Typical conversation costs: $0.005-$0.05 per outbound conversation depending on country.
See Wati Plans See plans →Where Wati Wins
- Strong in WhatsApp-dominant markets: India, Brazil, SEA, Middle East.
- E-commerce integrations: Shopify and WooCommerce work well.
- Chatbot builder: no-code visual flows handle common automation.
- Affordable pricing: cheaper than Twilio for SMB use cases.
- Official WhatsApp Business API: complies with Meta's terms.
Where It Falls Short
- WhatsApp-only: no email, SMS, or other channels in the same inbox.
- UI shows its age: usable but not as slick as newer competitors.
- Pricing climbs with conversations: high-volume use needs careful budgeting.
- Template approval process opaque: Meta's approval timeline unpredictable.
Wati vs Twilio vs Trengo vs SleekFlow
Twilio is the developer-first alternative. More flexible, more expensive, requires technical setup.
Trengo is multichannel (email, SMS, WhatsApp). Better fit if WhatsApp is one of several channels.
SleekFlow is the close competitor with similar scope and pricing.
Sirena targets Latin American WhatsApp commerce specifically.
Who Should Use Wati
E-commerce brands in WhatsApp-heavy markets: this is the workflow.
SMBs handling WhatsApp customer service: shared inbox plus automations work.
Service businesses in India, Brazil, Middle East: regional WhatsApp dominance.
Skip it if: your customers do not use WhatsApp, you need multichannel support (use Trengo or Front), or you operate primarily in US/Canada where WhatsApp is less dominant.
How Wati works
Wati is a WhatsApp-first customer engagement platform and an official Meta Business Solution Provider (BSP). It gives teams a shared inbox on the WhatsApp Business API plus broadcast campaigns, a no-code chatbot builder and AI agents for support and lead qualification. The vendor claims 16,000+ customers and 200M+ monthly messages. Beyond WhatsApp it also covers Instagram (DM and comment automation), Facebook, SMS and website chat in the same unified inbox.
Setup runs through Meta. You verify your Meta Business account, supply a website and a phone number, and Wati provisions the WhatsApp Business API number as your BSP, handling template pre-approval, quality scoring and opt-in management. Inside the dashboard you configure the shared team inbox and agent routing, contact management with attributes, broadcast campaigns against a WhatsApp message-template library, a no-code chatbot flow builder and a WhatsApp product catalog.
AI features are credit-metered: an AI Support Agent grounded on your knowledge base (the vendor claims up to 60% query deflection), an Inbound Intelligence Agent for lead qualification and intent, a conversational co-pilot for human agents, and bring-your-own-agent. Automation runs on triggers with monthly quotas per plan. You can wire everything to other systems through REST APIs, webhooks (limited below the top tier) and named connectors: HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho CRM, Leadsquared, Bitrix24, Kylas, Shopify, WooCommerce, AiTrillion, ActiveCampaign, Google Sheets, Calendly, Zapier, Pabbly, Twilio, PayTabs, Swipe, Eber and Facebook Ads.
Where Wati wins
- Official Meta BSP status. Number provisioning, template pre-approval, quality-rating visibility and opt-in handling are managed for you instead of becoming your problem against Meta's raw API.
- A shared team inbox with unlimited devices per agent. This is the core of the product and the reason most buyers pick it over a thin API wrapper, since WhatsApp itself only supports a handful of linked devices.
- A genuine no-code path. The chatbot flow builder, broadcast management and template submission all live in the dashboard, and the vendor claims a first campaign can be live in under 10 minutes.
- Unlimited broadcasts from the Pro tier upward (Growth caps at 15k a month), with volume discounts on Business, which matters for high-frequency retail and eLearning senders.
- Connector coverage aimed at the stacks that actually run WhatsApp commerce: Shopify, WooCommerce, HubSpot, Salesforce and Zoho, with Zapier and Pabbly as escape hatches.
Where it falls short
- The subscription is only part of the bill. Per-conversation WhatsApp messaging fees are charged separately on top of the plan, on Meta's country-and-category rate card, so your real monthly cost is unpredictable until you know your volume and destination countries.
- Seats are tight and expensive. Growth includes 3 users and does not allow buying more at all, so you must upgrade. Pro includes 5 users at $24 per extra user per month, Business includes 5 at $69 per extra user per month. A 10-person support team on Business pays a large seat bill on top of a $999 a month plan.
- Integrations are gated by tier. Growth gets none of the packaged integrations and no webhooks, Pro is capped at 5 integrations (HubSpot included), and Salesforce plus unlimited integrations only arrive on Business. Even Shopify is a separate $4.99 a month add-on. Pricing read from the vendor page in July 2026, so verify current numbers.
- No free plan. There is a 7-day trial only, and the headline prices ($99, $249 and $999 a month) require annual billing. Month-to-month is materially higher at $119, $299 and $1,199.
- Automation and AI usage are metered. Triggers run 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000 a month and AI co-pilot credits 250, 500 and 1,500 by tier, so heavy chatbot or AI use becomes an add-on purchase rather than a flat cost.
- It is WhatsApp-first by design. Instagram, Facebook, SMS and web chat exist in the unified inbox, but the platform, the pricing model and the template mechanics are all built around WhatsApp, which makes it a poor fit if WhatsApp is not your dominant channel.
Who should use Wati
Wati fits SMB and mid-market teams in WhatsApp-heavy markets (India, Southeast Asia, MENA, LATAM) running e-commerce, eLearning or healthcare support and marketing, who want a managed BSP relationship and a no-code chatbot instead of building on Meta's API themselves.
Skip it if WhatsApp is a secondary channel for you, if you have a large agent headcount (the seat pricing punishes you), or if you need deep CRM integration on a budget tier, since the connectors you want sit on Business.
