What Is Cognism?

Cognism is the B2B sales intelligence platform built for European markets first. Founded in London in 2015, Cognism serves 1,800+ revenue teams globally with verified mobile numbers, GDPR-compliant European data, intent signals, and contact data optimized for EMEA prospecting.

The pitch matters in Europe. ZoomInfo and Apollo dominate North America with strong US data; European phone numbers and GDPR-compliant data sources thinner. Cognism specifically built for European B2B sales with Diamond Data (manually verified mobiles) and GDPR/CCPA notification workflows that keep sales teams legally clean.

The product targets B2B sales teams selling into Europe, multinational sales orgs needing strong EMEA data, and compliance-sensitive industries (finance, healthcare, government).

How Cognism Works

The contact database covers 400M+ profiles globally with deep European coverage. Filter by industry, role, geography, technology, and intent signals. Diamond Data is the premium tier with mobile numbers manually verified, claimed at 87% accuracy.

Compliance workflows handle GDPR and CCPA notification requirements. When a rep adds a contact to outreach, Cognism's Notify can automatically send GDPR notification emails to the contact informing them their data has been added. Reduces legal exposure for marketing-sourced contacts.

Intent signals from Bombora identify accounts researching specific topics. Cognism's own behavioral data adds another intent layer. Surface in-market accounts for sales prioritization.

Sales Companion is the Chrome extension showing contact data inside LinkedIn, Salesforce, and other web tools. Reps prospect without leaving daily workflow.

Integrations cover Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, Outreach, SalesLoft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and Slack. Bidirectional sync with field mapping and de-duplication.

Cognism Pricing in 2026

Cognism does not publish pricing. Annual contracts based on user count, data credits, and Diamond Data tier. Industry estimates:

  • Platinum tier (basic): $15,000-$30,000/year for small teams
  • Diamond tier (verified mobiles): $30,000-$80,000/year
  • Enterprise deployments: $100,000-$500,000+/year

Annual commits standard. Procurement involves scoping and sales calls.

Where Cognism Wins

  • European data depth: best in class for EMEA prospecting.
  • Verified mobile numbers (Diamond Data): actual reach rates higher than competitors.
  • GDPR compliance workflow: Notify automates legal notifications.
  • Strong intent data: Bombora plus Cognism behavioral data.
  • Chrome extension UX: data inside LinkedIn and Salesforce.

Where It Falls Short

  • Annual contracts only: no monthly trial of paid tiers.
  • US data slightly behind ZoomInfo: still strong, but ZoomInfo deeper.
  • Pricing opaque: sales call required.
  • UX less polished than newer competitors: enterprise-feel, not consumer-grade.

Cognism vs ZoomInfo vs Apollo vs Lusha

ZoomInfo is the US-first alternative. Better US data, weaker EMEA, higher price.

Apollo is the SMB and mid-market alternative. Lower price, less compliance tooling.

Lusha targets simpler use cases at lower price. Less data depth.

Kaspr is the LinkedIn-focused European alternative. Smaller scope.

Who Should Use Cognism

B2B sales teams selling into Europe: best EMEA data.

Multinational sales orgs: covers EU + US + APAC.

Compliance-sensitive industries: GDPR Notify workflow reduces legal risk.

Skip it if: you sell only in US (use ZoomInfo or Apollo), you have under 10 reps (use Apollo), or budget is under $20K/year.

How Cognism works

Cognism is a B2B sales-intelligence and contact-data platform. You search its database for the companies and decision-makers that match your ICP, reveal their emails and mobile numbers, then push them into your CRM or sequencer. The differentiator is phone-verified mobile numbers, branded Diamond Data, and unusually strong European coverage: Cognism claims over 90% coverage of European decision-makers and 10M+ phone-verified contacts globally. Around the static contact data it sells buying signals (hiring, funding, job changes, technographics, M&A, Bombora intent), ongoing CRM enrichment, and raw data delivery by API or bulk file.

Day to day, reps work in two places. The web app is for building filtered lists using firmographics, technographics, headcount, revenue, location and seniority. The Sales Companion Chrome extension surfaces contact and company details on LinkedIn and inside the CRM without tab-switching, and flags priority contacts based on signals. Revealing a contact spends a credit: one credit equals one revealed contact, and a revealed contact stays reusable at no further cost unless that person changes jobs.

Lists sync to Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Microsoft Dynamics or Bullhorn, and to Salesloft or Outreach for sequencing, with Zapier covering everything else. CRM Enrichment runs as a one-off cleanse of the existing database plus ongoing maintenance and can be bought standalone, while Data-as-a-Service delivers the same data by API or batch. Verification is a pipeline rather than a single step: AI confidence scoring from press releases, registries and news, machine-learning validation of emails and mobiles, screening against DNC and TPS lists in 15+ territories, then human data-scientist checks. Cognism says 95% of director-level records are refreshed every 30 days.

Where Cognism wins

  • Europe is the real edge. Over 90% claimed coverage of European decision-makers, which is exactly where most US-built competitors are thinnest.
  • Phone-verified mobiles are a distinct product. An independent 1,000-call study cited on the site reports a 45% connect rate versus 18% on standard numbers.
  • The credit model is buyer-friendly. One credit per revealed contact, and re-using an already-revealed contact costs nothing unless they change jobs.
  • Compliance is documented, not just asserted. GDPR, CCPA and UK GDPR alignment, ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2 Type II, with automatic DNC/TPS suppression across 15+ territories.
  • Signals sit where reps already work. Six categories (hiring, funding, technographics covering 20,000+ technologies, job changes, Bombora intent, M&A) surface inside the browser extension.

Where it falls short

  • No prices published anywhere. Both Standard and Pro say "contact sales," and contract length, credit allocations and minimum commitment are all undisclosed.
  • There is effectively a 5-seat floor. Both tiers include 5 seats, and the site itself notes that minimum viable teams are 5+ salespeople, which prices out solo sellers and very small teams.
  • No free trial or free tier is offered or mentioned, so evaluation means a demo plus a data sample.
  • The most wanted features are Pro-only. Intent data, premium mobile verification and on-demand contact validation are all gated above Standard.
  • The integration list is short and CRM-centric (Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Dynamics, Bullhorn, Salesloft, Outreach, Zapier). No Zoho, Close or Clay, so anything else goes through Zapier or the API.
  • Non-European coverage is asserted but never quantified. No NAM or APAC coverage percentages or total record counts are published, so US-heavy teams cannot size the database before buying.
  • Intent is entirely resold Bombora Company Surge data, so on that dimension Cognism is not differentiated from any other Bombora reseller.

Who should use Cognism

Cognism suits outbound-heavy B2B revenue teams of roughly 5 to 100 reps selling into Europe, particularly where cold calling matters and mobile connect rate is the bottleneck. It also fits recruiters working in Bullhorn who need current candidate and client records, and RevOps teams buying the enrichment product alone to clean an ageing CRM.

Skip it if you are a solo founder or a two-person sales team, because the 5-seat floor makes it uneconomic. Skip it if you sell purely into North America, where the coverage claims are unquantified and US-native rivals are cheaper. And skip it if you need a published price to budget against, or if you want to try the data before you buy.
