What Is Compliancely?
Compliancely is the identity verification and tax compliance platform that helps businesses verify customers, vendors, and contractors against US regulatory requirements. The product covers TIN matching, KYC/AML screening, OFAC sanctions verification, business verification, and W-9/W-8 form management.
The pitch is automated compliance. Manual processes (calling the IRS to verify TINs, running OFAC checks through web portals, collecting W-9s through email) consume hours and create error risks. Compliancely automates the workflows through API and web interface.
The product targets fintech companies, payment platforms, marketplaces, and businesses with 50+ contractors needing 1099 prep. Smaller operations may handle compliance manually; larger operations need real automation.

Use the web app for individual checks or API for high-volume integration. Submit a TIN (Tax Identification Number) and name; Compliancely queries the IRS database in real time and returns match/mismatch results.
Sanctions screening checks against OFAC's Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list, plus UN, EU, and other consolidated sanctions lists. Critical for fintech, payment companies, and businesses dealing with international counterparties.
W-9 and W-8 collection workflows replace email-based form collection. Send a link to your contractor; they fill out the form online; Compliancely validates, stores, and integrates with your accounting or payment system.
1099 prep tools connect W-9 data with year-end payment totals to generate 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC forms. Bulk submission to the IRS through Tax1099 or similar e-file partners.
Business verification confirms that vendor entities are real registered businesses with valid EIN, state registration, and active status. Helps prevent vendor fraud.

Where It Falls Short

- UI is functional: works but not modern.
- Per-check pricing adds up: high-volume users may negotiate but list prices climb.

Middesk targets business verification specifically.
Who Should Use Compliancely
US fintech and payment companies: TIN matching and OFAC are operational requirements.
Marketplaces verifying sellers or vendors: business verification at scale.
Companies preparing 1099s for 50+ contractors: W-9 collection and 1099 generation.
Skip it if: you operate primarily outside the US (use Sumsub or Trulioo), your volume is too low to justify API setup, or your existing compliance vendor handles these checks.
How Compliancely works
Compliancely is a US-focused identity, business (KYB) and tax-compliance verification platform. It bundles a set of individual searches behind one dashboard and one API: real-time and bulk IRS TIN matching, Secretary of State business entity search, tax-exempt organization validation, USPS address verification, GIIN verification against IRS FATCA records, Form I-9 employment eligibility, income and employment verification, and IRS tax transcript retrieval. Layered on top of the raw verification are risk products: credit risk assessment built on tax and income data, business and individual tax risk assessment reports, and FinCEN Beneficial Ownership (BOI) reporting. It also runs ongoing monitoring against OFAC sanctions lists, the SSA Death Master File, FATCA classification and global watchlists.
There are two ways to use it. In the dashboard you either key in a Name/TIN combination one at a time, or upload an Excel or CSV batch to run thousands of TINs in a single job. The vendor states verified results in 2 to 3 seconds and offers provisional matching, which returns a result when the official system is offline. For systems integration there is a TIN Check API documented on a developer portal with an API reference and a status page, intended to drop real-time verification into HR, accounting or ERP workflows. Monitoring runs continuously against sanctions and watchlists with automated alerts.
Commercially it is credit-based. You buy a monthly allotment of TIN matches on subscription (annual, monthly or prepaid) and consume it. The other products, including business verification reports, credit risk, address verification, I-9, tax transcripts and income verification, are quoted separately by sales.
Where Compliancely wins
- Wide checklist coverage in one account. IRS TIN matching, Secretary of State entity search, tax-exempt status, USPS address, GIIN/FATCA, OFAC, Death Master File, I-9 and income verification would usually mean four or five separate vendors.
- Bulk TIN matching via Excel or CSV upload handles thousands of records per batch, which is the difference between a morning and a week during 1099 and W-9 season when you have a vendor file to clean before filing.
- Published, granular TIN-match pricing: from $16.95 per month for 25 matches ($0.67 each, annual) up to $135.04 per month for 250 ($0.54 each), with prepaid blocks reaching 3,000 per month at $0.596 each. Most compliance vendors publish nothing at all.
- Operational claims are specific: 2 to 3 second turnaround, 99.99% uptime, provisional matching when upstream systems are down, plus SOC 2 Type II and PII encryption.
- A real API (TIN Check API) with reference documentation and a status page, so verification can be embedded in onboarding rather than run as a manual side task by whoever has time.
Where it falls short
- The data is essentially US-only. IRS, SSA Death Master File, Secretary of State, USPS, FinCEN and IRS FATCA are all domestic sources. Only sanctions and watchlist screening is global, so international KYB is not covered.
- There is no free tier. The cheapest entry is $19.95 per month on monthly billing for 25 matches, and the pricing page advertises no trial credit.
- Only TIN matching has public pricing. Business verification reports, credit risk assessment, address verification, Form I-9, tax transcripts and income verification are all "contact sales", so the total cost of a real onboarding stack is unknowable without a call.
- Credit allotments are monthly and small at the low end (25 to 250 matches), so a seasonal 1099 spike pushes you into prepaid blocks or Enterprise custom pricing rather than flexing on demand.
- API documentation sits behind a developer portal rather than on the marketing site, and the site publishes nothing on rate limits, webhook support or SLAs beyond a headline uptime figure. The social proof (a 4.9 rating from 23,416 reviews, 75M+ checks a year) is self-reported and not attributed to any review platform.
Who should use Compliancely
Compliancely fits US accounts-payable, HR and compliance teams that need to validate vendor and contractor TINs before 1099 and W-9 filing, where the bulk upload and the published per-match pricing do most of the work. It is also a fair candidate for US fintech, lending, insurance, crypto and marketplace operators that want KYB, sanctions screening and BOI reporting in one place with an API to call from an onboarding flow.
Skip it if you onboard non-US entities, if you want a free tier to evaluate before committing, or if you need transparent pricing across the full product set before you are willing to sit through a sales conversation.
