What Is TheTop?

TheTop is the AI-powered talent acquisition platform for SMBs and mid-market companies that need to hire faster without dedicated recruiters. The product combines job board distribution, applicant tracking, AI-driven candidate matching, and onboarding workflows in one platform.

The pitch is end-to-end hiring without an HR department. Solo founders and small HR teams handle hiring on top of other responsibilities; finding time for proper sourcing, screening, and onboarding is hard. TheTop automates the repetitive parts so hiring becomes a manageable side function rather than a full-time job.

The platform targets companies hiring 5-50 roles annually. Smaller volume can use LinkedIn job posts alone; larger volume justifies dedicated ATS (Greenhouse, Workday). TheTop fits the middle.

How TheTop Works

Post a job through the platform; TheTop distributes to dozens of job boards (Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter, niche boards) automatically. Single posting, multi-channel reach.

Applications land in the ATS. AI screens applications against role requirements, scoring fit and surfacing the strongest candidates. Filters and tags help recruiters triage hundreds of applications quickly.

Interview scheduling integrates with calendars. Self-scheduling links sent to candidates respect everyone's availability. Reschedules and reminders happen automatically.

Communication templates handle outreach, screening invitations, offer letters, and rejections. Personalization tokens fill candidate name, role, and details. Bulk communications send to multiple candidates at once with personalization preserved.

Onboarding workflows automate first-day tasks: offer letter generation, document signing through DocuSign integration, equipment provisioning checklists, system access requests, and first-week schedules.

TheTop Pricing in 2026

Starter: From $99/month annually. Up to 3 active jobs, basic ATS, AI screening.

Pro: From $249/month annually. Unlimited active jobs, advanced AI, integrations.

Enterprise: Custom pricing with SSO, advanced reporting, dedicated success manager.

Compared to Greenhouse at $6,000+/year, TheTop is much cheaper for SMBs. Compared to free options (LinkedIn job posts alone), TheTop adds significant workflow value but at meaningful cost.

Where TheTop Wins

  • End-to-end workflow: sourcing to onboarding in one tool.
  • AI candidate matching: cuts resume screening time.
  • SMB pricing: accessible to small businesses without enterprise budgets.
  • Job board distribution: one posting, multi-channel reach.
  • Scheduling automation: removes coordination overhead.

Where It Falls Short

  • Smaller brand than Greenhouse or Workable: less recognition in procurement.
  • AI quality varies by role type: technical and creative roles harder to screen automatically.
  • Limited integration depth: covers basics, less than mature ATS competitors.
  • Best for SMB hiring volumes: 500+ annual hires need enterprise ATS.

TheTop vs Greenhouse vs Workable vs BambooHR

Marketing tools, published pricing

ActiveCampaign $15/mo (Starter), $49/mo (Plus), $79/mo (Pro), $145/mo (Enterprise) Subscription

Greenhouse is the enterprise standard. More features, much more expensive. Pick Greenhouse if you hire 100+ roles annually.

Workable targets SMB hiring with stronger sourcing. Comparable pricing to TheTop.

BambooHR bundles ATS with HRIS. Better for HR-first companies, weaker pure hiring features.

Lever targets growth-stage tech companies with strong sourcing and pipeline analytics.

Who Should Use TheTop

SMBs hiring 5-50 roles/year: feature scope and pricing fit this volume.

Teams without dedicated recruiters: AI screening helps generalist hiring.

Service businesses with operational hiring: warehouse, retail, customer service.

Skip it if: you hire enterprise volume (use Greenhouse), need deep HRIS integration (use BambooHR), or already have established ATS in place.

How TheTop works

TheTop bills itself as an AI Chief of Staff. It connects to your email and calendar and produces a ranked daily brief of what needs your attention across work and personal life, instead of waiting for you to prompt a chatbot. Background agents watch the connected sources continuously, surface deadlines, unanswered threads and upcoming commitments, and prepare items so that a decision takes seconds. The vendor also runs a second, separate site at thetop.ai for TheTop Engine, a patent-pending AI cost-control layer that routes requests across model providers, caches repeated answers, trims context and enforces per-task cost caps.

Setup is OAuth-based and deliberately shallow: you connect accounts in a few clicks and no prompts are required. Out-of-the-box connectors are Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Microsoft 365, plus RSS and news feeds, and anything landing in a connected inbox is effectively ingested. The vendor adds its own web enrichment on top of your data.

Paid plans differ mainly on how many sources you can connect and how often briefs refresh. Free is one connected source and a limited daily brief. Essential ($15 per month, or $12 per month billed yearly) covers two sources, the full morning brief, AI summaries, basic conversation memory and a daily email digest. Pro ($30 per month, or $25 per month billed yearly) covers five sources, adaptive memory and learning, five brief refreshes per day, automatic enrichment, and quick actions with smart reply. Free accounts get two days of Pro. Billing is month-to-month with no contract, and upgrading carries over all learned context.

On security, data is AES-256 encrypted at rest via AWS KMS and TLS in transit, raw data is structured and abstracted before model processing, and the vendor states data is never used to train models. Controls include disconnecting a source, pausing the account, deleting everything in one tap, or revoking access from Google directly.

Where TheTop wins

  • It is genuinely zero-prompt. You connect calendar and email and the brief arrives, which removes the main reason people abandon assistant tools.
  • There is a real free tier with no credit card, plus two days of Pro, so you can see an actual brief built on your own data before paying anything.
  • The privacy posture is specific rather than vague: AES-256 at rest via AWS KMS, TLS in transit, no model training, GDPR and CCPA compliance, one-tap full deletion, revoke-from-Google without logging in, and Google and Microsoft CASA verification.
  • It is cheap for the category at $12 to $30 per month, month-to-month with no contract, and all learned context carries over when you upgrade.
  • It covers personal and professional life in one view rather than being work-only, which is unusual for this class of tool.

Where it falls short

  • The integration list is short and email or calendar centric: Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Microsoft 365, RSS and news. There is no Slack, no CRM, no task manager and no Notion. The vendor says more native integrations are on the way.
  • Connected-source caps are the real product limit: one on Free, two on Essential, five on Pro. Anyone with several inboxes plus multiple calendars will hit the Pro ceiling.
  • Brief refreshes are rationed at five per day even on Pro, so this is a morning-briefing product rather than a live monitor.
  • The SOC 2 Type I audit is only described as currently underway, so there is no certificate yet, and there is no visible team or admin plan, SSO or org billing. It is a personal subscription, not something IT can deploy.
  • The sibling product at thetop.ai is pre-launch. TheTop Engine, the AI cost-routing layer, is gated behind Request Early Access or design-partner access, publishes no pricing, and lists SOC 2, SSO, private deployment and full data controls as roadmap items.

Who should use TheTop

The fit is individual executives, founders, consultants and busy professionals whose day already lives in Gmail or Outlook and who want the morning triage handled for them. If your main problem is that deadlines and unanswered threads get buried between a work inbox and a personal calendar, a ranked daily brief that requires no prompting is the right shape of solution, and $12 to $30 per month is a low bar to clear for it.

Because the Free plan needs no credit card and includes two days of Pro, the sensible approach is to connect one account, read a few briefs on your own data, and decide from there. Essential makes sense if two sources cover you. Pro is the tier to pick if you want adaptive memory, enrichment and quick actions with smart reply.

Skip it if your work actually lives in Slack, a CRM or a task tracker, because none of those connect yet. Skip it if you need more than five connected accounts, since Pro is the ceiling. And skip it if you are buying for a team and require SSO, admin controls and a completed SOC 2 report, none of which exist today.
