What Is TheTop?

Verdict: TheTop is worth a look for companies whose AI bill has become a real line item, and it is pointless for a small team spending a few hundred dollars a month on models.

TheTop sells TheEngine, a control layer between your organization and its AI providers. It is not a recruiting tool. An earlier TheTop product was an AI chief of staff that built daily briefs from email and calendar, but the thetop.com site now leads entirely with enterprise AI cost and policy control.

How TheTop Works

Requests from your apps, agents and teams pass through TheEngine on their way to the model provider. It combines five parts: visibility into usage and spend, organizational memory, policy checks, model routing and caching. Memory is the piece the vendor leans on hardest: it finds known context and reusable work so you stop paying models to redo it.

The policy layer detects sensitive data in the stream and logs and flags breaches, leaving the decision on what to stop with you. There is also a kill switch. You can start read-only on your connected keys with no traffic migration, which is the sensible way to evaluate it.

Prices are published, in USD, with 14 days free on every offering. They were read on the vendor's pricing page in November 2026.

The savings cap is the most buyer-friendly term here. The vendor is also upfront that the savings figure in its estimator is your assumption and not a promise, so run the read-only tier first and judge on your own traffic. Measured savings are the vendor's own calculation, so ask how the baseline is set before you sign.

Where TheTop Wins

• Open rate cards: unusual for an enterprise AI vendor, and you can model your bill without a call.
• Low-risk start: read-only with no traffic migration.
• One layer: cost visibility, policy, routing and caching in one product rather than four tools.
• Fee capped at savings: Optimization should not cost more than it saves, by the vendor's measure.

Where It Falls Short

• Another hop for every request: routing production traffic through a third party is a real security and reliability review.
• Savings claims are hard to check: the dashboard figures on the site are demo numbers, not independent evidence.
• Overkill for small spend: the minimum Transparency band is $150 a month.
• Product focus has shifted: the company has moved between products, so ask about the roadmap.
