Google Workspace Pricing in 2026: Every Plan per User, and Whether Gemini Is Included
Short answer: for a 10-person team on a 1-year commitment, Business Starter is the cheapest business edition at $7 a user a month, or $840 a year, and it includes Gemini in Gmail and chat. Business Standard, at $14 a user a month, is the cheapest business edition with Gemini in Docs and Meet. Both figures come from Google's US help center, checked 12 October 2026.
Google Workspace plans at a glance
| Plan | Best for | 1-year commitment, per user a month | Flexible, per user a month | Gemini | Pooled storage per user | Meet participants |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business Starter | Small teams that need business email, Meet and Gemini in Gmail | $7 | $8.40 | Gemini in Gmail and the Gemini chat app | 30 GB | 100 |
| Business Standard | Teams that write, plan and meet inside Google apps | $14 | $16.80 | Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Meet and more | 2 TB | 150 |
| Business Plus | Teams that need eDiscovery, Vault and 5 TB per user | $22 | $26.40 | Everything in Standard | 5 TB | 500 |
| Enterprise | Teams above 300 users, the only edition with no user limit | Contact sales | Contact sales | Ask Google sales | Ask Google sales | Ask Google sales |
Prices are per user, exclude tax, and come from Google's own pages. Business Starter, Standard and Plus each sell to 300 users at most. Teams larger than that go to Enterprise, which has no user limit and no published price. Google's pricing page lists no free business edition, but it does offer a 14-day trial of Workspace.
How much does Google Workspace cost per user?
Google sells the business editions on two terms. The flexible plan has no commitment and bills monthly. The annual plan asks for a 1-year commitment, and Google bills it either monthly at the lower rate or as one yearly payment. Flexible pricing runs 20% above the annual rate, which works out to $1.40 more per user a month on Starter, $2.80 more on Standard and $4.40 more on Plus.
Over a full year, one Starter seat costs $100.80 on the flexible plan and $84 on the annual plan. That gap is small for one person and real money for 50 people, so the billing term matters as much as the edition you pick. For how per-seat prices compare across other software, see SaaS pricing benchmarks for 2026. Google publishes its figures openly, which not every vendor does: one in three software vendors hides its price, by our count.
Dupple data: our price book logged the Starter annual price at $7 a user a month on 25 September 2026. Google's help center shows the same figure on 12 October, so the entry price held for 17 days.
What does a 10-person or 25-person team pay?
The arithmetic is the same for every edition: seats × 12 months × the per-user monthly price. Totals below are per year, before tax.
| Plan | 10 users, 1-year commitment | 10 users, flexible | 25 users, 1-year commitment | 25 users, flexible |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business Starter | $840 | $1,008 | $2,100 | $2,520 |
| Business Standard | $1,680 | $2,016 | $4,200 | $5,040 |
| Business Plus | $2,640 | $3,168 | $6,600 | $7,920 |
Take Standard for 25 people on the flexible plan as a worked example: 25 × 12 × $16.80 = $5,040 a year.
Moving 25 people from Starter to Standard adds $2,100 a year on the 1-year commitment. That buys Gemini in Docs and Meet, 2 TB of pooled storage per user instead of 30 GB, and room for 150 people in a meeting instead of 100. Plus adds another $2,400 a year at 25 seats on the 1-year commitment. For that money you get 5 TB per user, Vault and eDiscovery, and 500 meeting participants.
Is Gemini included in every plan?
Yes, in all three business editions, although what each one includes differs.
- Starter includes the Gemini assistant in Gmail and the Gemini chat app. Google's pricing page lists no Gemini assistant for Docs or Sheets on this edition, so a team that wants Gemini in Docs needs Standard.
- Standard adds the Gemini assistant in Docs and Meet and more, plus Gemini Notebook and expanded access.
- Plus includes everything in Standard. Its additions on the pricing page are storage, eDiscovery, Vault and meeting features, and the page lists no extra Gemini features for it.
Gemini usage limits sit on top of the plan. Google says standard access to its AI features comes at no extra cost in most Workspace plans, and it sells an AI Expanded Access add-on for teams that need higher limits. Google does not list that add-on's price on the pages this article uses, so ask Google sales for a quote before you budget for it. Which edition fits which team
A team of five people who mostly need business email, video calls and a few shared documents fits Starter. On the 1-year commitment the Starter rate applies, and the 30 GB pooled storage per user is the limit to watch as files grow.
A team that writes, plans and meets inside Google apps fits Standard. It is the cheapest edition that puts Gemini into Docs and Meet, and its 2 TB of pooled storage per user is more than 60 times Starter's 30 GB.
A team that needs eDiscovery, Vault or 5 TB per user fits Plus. Plus costs $8 a user a month more than Standard on the 1-year commitment, so it pays off only if one of those three features is a real requirement. If you are choosing an assistant rather than a suite, Claude vs Gemini and Gemini vs ChatGPT compare the chatbots directly, and the best AI assistants lists the wider field.
The terms that change the real cost
Four terms decide what a Workspace plan really costs. Check each one before you sign.
- Seats only come down at renewal. You can add users at any time, but you can reduce licenses only when the contract renews. Until then you pay for every license you bought.
- Cancelling early is billed in full. Cancel before the renewal date and Google charges the remaining balance of the contract, with no refund.
- Storage arrives in stages. A new subscription gets part of its pooled storage first. The full limit comes after a $30 USD payment, and it can take up to 72 hours to appear.
- The offer terms conflict. The pricing page advertises a discount for new customers from 26 October 2026 to 26 January 2027. Its footnotes describe that offer two different ways, a three-month discount and a 12-month price for the first 20 users, so confirm the price at checkout before you budget.
How we checked these prices
We read Google's US help center pages on business editions and on flexible and annual payment plans. The dollar figures come from those pages, because Google's Workspace pricing page switches to the visitor's local currency. We used the pricing page for storage, meeting sizes, user caps, Gemini features and the Enterprise line. For the AI add-on we read Google's AI Expanded Access post. All of these were checked on 12 October 2026.
The totals are our own arithmetic from list prices. Google changes these pages often, so re-check the pricing page on the day you buy.
FAQ
How much does Google Workspace cost per user?
Business Starter costs $7 a user a month on a 1-year commitment, Business Standard costs $14 and Business Plus costs $22. On the flexible plan, with no commitment, the same editions cost $8.40, $16.80 and $26.40 a month. Prices exclude tax.
Is Gemini included in Google Workspace?
Yes, in all three business editions. Starter includes the Gemini assistant in Gmail and the Gemini chat app. Standard adds Gemini in Docs and Meet, and Plus includes everything in Standard.
Is there a free Google Workspace plan?
Google's pricing page lists no free business edition. It lists three paid editions and an Enterprise tier with contact sales, and it offers a 14-day trial.
How much does Google Workspace cost for 10 people?
On the 1-year commitment, 10 users cost $840 a year on Starter, $1,680 on Standard and $2,640 on Plus. On the flexible plan, the same 10 seats cost $1,008, $2,016 and $3,168 a year.
Is the flexible Google Workspace plan more expensive?
Yes, by 20%. The flexible plan costs $8.40 a user a month on Starter, and the same 20% premium over the annual rate applies to Standard and Plus. Billing the 1-year plan monthly keeps the lower rate, so the commitment, not the billing frequency, sets the price.
Bottom line
Pick the edition by the Gemini features your team will use, then pick the billing term by how long you plan to stay. Starter is the cheapest way in and covers Gmail. Standard is the cheapest route to Gemini in Docs and Meet. Plus is worth its extra $8 a user a month on the 1-year commitment only if eDiscovery, Vault or 5 TB per user is a real requirement, and otherwise the money is better spent on Standard.
