Phone calls still convert better than any other channel in e-commerce. A customer who calls is 10x more likely to buy than one who browses silently. The problem? Most Shopify merchants have zero phone infrastructure. Consio fixes that with an AI-native phone platform built specifically for online stores.

Founded in January 2025 by Philippe Roireau and Martin Latrille (both early employees at Gorgias, the customer support unicorn), Consio raised a $3.3M seed round in January 2026 from RTP Global, SaaStr Fund, and the Gorgias founders themselves. They hit $1M ARR in their first year. The team is only 12 people, but the traction is real.

What Consio Actually Does

Inbound AI voice agent: An AI answers your phone 24/7. It handles FAQs, qualifies callers, and routes high-intent calls to human reps with full Shopify context (order history, cart contents, customer lifetime value). Your team only talks to callers who are ready to buy.

Outbound power dialer: Run segmented phone campaigns targeting abandoned carts, VIP customers, or high-AOV shoppers. Automated voicemail drops for contacts you can't reach. This is where most merchants see the biggest revenue lift.

Phone hub: Every call gets an AI summary tied to the Shopify order. No more "what did we discuss with that customer?" moments. Full call history, transcripts, and AI-generated insights in one place.

AI sales coaching: Post-call scoring and insights for your phone agents. What worked, what didn't, how to improve.

Pricing

Simple, usage-based model through the Shopify App Store:

  • Free: Set up your account and campaigns. No minutes included.
  • Starter: $30/month. 100 minutes included, $0.10/min overage.
  • Growth: $60/month. 400 minutes, $0.10/min overage.
  • Pro: $120/month. 1,000 minutes, $0.10/min overage.

All plans include unlimited agents, local and toll-free numbers. No per-seat charges. A mid-size store running 500 minutes/month would spend about $70.

What's Working

  • 5.0/5.0 on Shopify App Store (28 reviews, 100% five-star). That's rare for any app, especially one this young.
  • Revenue impact is measurable: Abandoned cart calls convert at dramatically higher rates than emails. The outbound dialer pays for itself fast.
  • Shopify-native: Full context from your store (order history, customer segments, cart data) surfaces during every call. No manual CRM syncing.
  • Integrations: Connects to Klaviyo, Gorgias, Kustomer, and Richpanel. If you're already using these tools, Consio slots in without friction.

What's Not

  • Shopify-only: If you're on WooCommerce, BigCommerce, or Magento, this won't work for you.
  • Early-stage company: 12 people, one year old. The product is good, but the company's track record is short. If stability matters more than innovation, consider that.
  • Phone-focused: This isn't a full helpdesk. It handles calls, not email/chat/social support. You'll still need Gorgias or Zendesk for everything else.
  • Overage costs add up: At $0.10/min, a store doing 2,000 minutes/month would pay $120 (Pro) + $100 in overage = $220/month. Plan your tier carefully.

Who Gets the Most Value

Shopify merchants selling high-AOV products (furniture, electronics, custom goods) where a phone call can close a $500+ sale. Also strong for stores with high cart abandonment rates where an outbound call within an hour recovers purchases that email campaigns never would.

If you sell $15 t-shirts, the unit economics don't work. The cost per call needs to be justified by the order value.

How Consio works

Consio is an AI phone and SMS platform built specifically for Shopify ecommerce brands. It covers both directions of the phone channel. On the inbound side, an AI voice agent answers calls 24/7, runs an IVR, looks up orders and answers product questions. On the outbound side, a power dialer runs segmented calling campaigns against Shopify and Klaviyo segments such as abandoned checkouts, VIPs and high-AOV shoppers. Calls, SMS and MMS all live in one hub with AI call summaries and order attribution, so phone conversations get tied back to revenue instead of sitting in a separate telephony silo.

You install it from the Shopify App Store and connect Shopify plus your other data sources: Klaviyo, and helpdesks including Zendesk, Gorgias, Kustomer, Richpanel and eDesk. Setting up the AI voice agent means building a knowledge base, picking a voice, writing behavioral guidelines, defining the actions the agent is allowed to take (order lookup, draft orders, sending SMS with tracking links) and then testing it. Consio's docs break that into a four-article section, which gives a sense of the effort involved.

For outbound, you build a campaign: choose a Shopify or Klaviyo segment, set calling windows per timezone, set maximum contact attempts, and assign the list to agents. Reps then work the power dialer with automatic voicemail drops, AI-suggested talking points and objection cues, customer context (order history, cart contents), call recording, notes, and dispositions that trigger follow-up workflows. Inbound routing supports IVR keypad menus, round-robin distribution, separate in-hours and after-hours paths, external transfers, hold, and live call monitoring.

Where Consio wins

  • Genuinely Shopify-native rather than a generic dialer bolted onto a store. Both the AI agent and the human rep see order history and cart contents, and the AI can create draft orders mid-call, so a phone conversation can end in a purchase inside the same tool.
  • Revenue attribution is built in. The analytics suite tracks average order value, conversion rate and last-touch attribution options, which is the question most call tools cannot answer.
  • Inbound and outbound in one workspace: AI voice agent, IVR, power dialer, SMS and MMS, voicemail drops and live monitoring, instead of stitching a call center and a dialer together.
  • Helpdesk integrations are real two-way plumbing, not logos on a page. The eDesk and Zendesk/Gorgias/Kustomer connections auto-create tickets and push call details, dispositions and AI summaries into them.
  • Low entry cost, with a genuine free tier for account setup and then $30/mo for 100 included minutes, cheap enough for a small brand to pilot the channel before committing headcount.

Where it falls short

  • Effectively Shopify-only. Segments come from Shopify and Klaviyo, and there is no sign of WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento or a generic CRM path, so non-Shopify merchants are out.
  • Metered minutes get expensive at volume. At $0.10 per minute over the bundle, a real outbound program running thousands of minutes blows past the $120/mo top published tier quickly, and there is no published enterprise pricing.
  • Still maturing. The Power Dialer is in beta, and the vendor's own product page marks AI agent feedback and some performance tracking as coming soon. Multi-currency support requires reconnecting Shopify.
  • Young and small. The company launched the Shopify app in October 2024 and has 31 reviews. The site says nothing about country coverage, supported calling regions, telephony compliance (TCPA and DNC handling) or number provisioning, all of which an outbound program needs answered before launch.
  • MMS is capped at 5MB and limited to JPG, PNG, GIF and PDF.

Who should use Consio

Consio fits Shopify DTC brands that already run a phone sales or support motion, or plan to start one. It makes most sense in high-AOV, considered-purchase categories where a call can recover a cart worth calling about, and for teams that want AI to assist reps and cover after-hours rather than replace the team outright. The free setup tier and $30/mo entry point mean you can test whether the phone channel pays for itself before hiring for it.

Skip it if you are not on Shopify, since the segment plumbing simply is not there. Skip it if your average order value is too low to justify per-minute costs at scale. Skip it if you need a full contact-center suite with workforce management and QA, or if you need documented compliance controls before running cold outbound, because Consio does not publish that detail today.
