Key factsShow up in ChatGPT: track prompts, allow OAI-SearchBot
  • Updated: September 25, 2026
  • The short loop is to write 20 buyer prompts, run them in Peec across ChatGPT and Perplexity, then fix the pages that lose citations.
  • New Peec AI users get 30% off for six months through the article's partner link.
  • OAI-SearchBot must be allowed in robots.txt to be shown in ChatGPT search answers; blocking GPTBot does not remove a site from ChatGPT search.
  • Pages that work include comparisons with tables, original numbers, and reviews that disclose partner links.

The longer GEO playbook (sources, Reddit, comparison pages) is how to get cited by ChatGPT. This page is the short loop plus the tool we review.

ChatGPT will not send you a Search Console email when it starts naming your competitor instead of you. You find out when a prospect says "I asked ChatGPT and it listed three tools. You were not one."

The short loop: measure the answers, see which pages get cited, write or fix those pages, measure again. The tool we reviewed for the measure step is Peec AI. New users get 30% off for six months through the partner link on the review. The number-shaped version of this problem is our SEO statistics.

The short version

  1. Write 20 prompts a buyer would actually type. "Best X for Y," "X vs Z," "alternative to incumbent."
  2. Run them in Peec across ChatGPT and Perplexity. A one-off screenshot in your own chat is noise.
  3. List the domains that get cited when you do not. Those are the pages to earn, not a new homepage paragraph.
  4. Publish one page that answers one prompt in plain language, with a date and a real number if you have one.
  5. Wait a week. Look at position and sentiment, not vanity "we were mentioned once."

HubSpot AEO is the other dashboard if you already live in HubSpot. Peec is the one we reviewed end to end for this job.

What does not work

Stuffing "as an AI language model" jokes into a blog. Buying a 4,000-word blob that says nothing. Blocking OAI-SearchBot in robots.txt and then wondering why you are invisible. A press release with no durable URL.

Get the crawler right, because the two OpenAI bots are often confused. According to OpenAI's crawler documentation, OAI-SearchBot is the one that surfaces sites in ChatGPT search, and sites that disallow it will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers. GPTBot crawls content that may be used to train OpenAI's models, and blocking it does not remove you from ChatGPT search: OpenAI says you can allow OAI-SearchBot while disallowing GPTBot. If you want to be cited, check that OAI-SearchBot is allowed; whether to allow GPTBot is a separate training decision.

What does

A page a human would bookmark. Comparisons with a table. Original numbers (we publish ours on /statistics). Reviews that disclose a partner link instead of pretending to be neutral.
