Our Verdict

Teamed is one of the better employer of record picks for a small or mid-sized company that is hiring its first people abroad and expects some of those countries to grow into a local entity of its own. Its EOR fee starts at $599 per employee per month, level with Deel and $100 under the list prices of Remote and Oyster, and it pairs that with the clearest invoices in this group and a contractor to EOR to entity path on one system. The trade-off is depth of ownership: Teamed employs people through its own entities in 57 countries and through local partners in the rest of its 187+, so in a long tail of markets you are trusting a partner arrangement rather than a Teamed company.

We judged Teamed on its published pricing, contract terms, product pages and support data, and checked competitor prices on each vendor's own pricing page on 9 October 2026. We did not run a hire through the platform.

Who Teamed Is For

Teamed is a London company, founded in 2018 by Antony Vallee (CEO) and Tom Price-Daniel, that sells four things: employer of record, contractor management, global payroll for entities you already own, and the setup and running of your own foreign entities (which it calls GEMO, for Global Entity & Employment Operations). It is explicit that it is not built for global enterprises with their own procurement machinery and global HR department, and we think that self-assessment is accurate. Everything about the offer, from the named specialist on every account to the crossover alerts, is designed for a company that does not yet have an international HR team of its own.

That makes it a strong fit for three kinds of buyer:

  • The first international hire. A startup or scale-up putting one to a handful of people in a new country, who wants a person to call rather than a help centre.
  • The finance-led buyer. A CFO or finance manager who wants to audit the EOR bill line by line and stop paying for currency conversion buried in the rate.
  • The company that will outgrow EOR. A team that already knows one or two countries will reach a size where its own entity is cheaper, and wants the move handled by the same provider.

What Stands Out

The graduation model is the most distinctive thing here

Most EOR providers make more money the longer you stay on EOR, so few of them push you off it. Teamed builds its pitch around the opposite. It models, per country, the headcount at which your own entity becomes cheaper than paying EOR fees, alerts you when you cross it, and then sets up the entity and moves your people across by contract novation, so employment continues rather than ending and restarting. It puts the usual span from decision to first payroll at four to eight weeks. The free Crossover Calculator lets you run the numbers before you talk to anyone.

For a buyer this matters more than a $50 difference in the monthly fee. Moving 15 people from one provider's EOR to another provider's entity service is a painful, risky project. Doing it inside one system with the same specialist is the main reason to choose Teamed over a cheaper contractor tool or a larger platform.

The cleanest invoice in the category

Teamed's fee is a single line on the invoice. Salary, employer social charges and statutory benefits pass through at cost, and the exchange rate is shown against the mid-market reference with no markup. There is no setup fee and no exit fee. The pricing page even prints a sample invoice for a Berlin engineer so you can see the format before you sign.

Of the pricing pages we compared, Teamed's is the only one that commits to zero FX markup in plain words. Deel talks about "competitive exchange rates", Remote converts at its own "Remote FX rate", and Oyster charges a conversion fee if you pay in a currency other than the contract currency. On a $10,000 monthly salary, even a 1.5% margin hidden in the rate costs about $1,800 a year per employee, so this is a real saving rather than a slogan, and it is easy to verify on your first invoice.

Specialists rather than a ticket queue

Every plan comes with HR and legal specialists assigned within 24 hours of onboarding a country, and DLA Piper sits behind its contracts as global legal partner, with local employment firms in each market. Teamed now commits to a first human response within 15 minutes, 24/5. It also publishes its own ticket data, which showed a median first reply of 1.2 hours for 20 May to 18 August 2026, before that commitment was made. We like that it published the older number at all; few vendors do. Treat the 15-minute promise as something to hold it to in the contract.

Contractor risk you can actually buy down

Teamed sells three contractor levels: plain Contractor Management, Teamed Guard (misclassification cover up to $10,000 per case plus a quarterly classification review) and Teamed Protect (Teamed engages the contractor and carries the full liability). That ladder is useful for companies with long-running contractors in Germany, France, the Netherlands or Spain, where authorities scrutinise contractor arrangements closely. It is not the cheapest ladder, as the comparison below shows.

Where It Falls Short

Owned entities cover 57 countries, not 187+. The headline coverage figure is wider than Deel's 130+, Oyster's 120+ and Remote's 90+, but it includes partner-delivered markets. Remote, by contrast, says it owns every entity it employs through. Teamed publishes its owned-entity country list on the countries page, so check every country you plan to hire in before you compare coverage numbers.

You fund more cash up front than with Remote. Before the first payroll you pay a refundable deposit of one month's gross salary plus the first month's full employment cost, on Net-7 terms. Oyster also takes a refundable deposit, but Remote says it collects reserves only in rare, high-risk cases. For a seed-stage company hiring three senior engineers at once, that difference can be tens of thousands of dollars of working capital.

Contractor and payroll-only pricing is not the cheapest. Contractor Management from $49 matches Deel but costs $20 more than Remote and Oyster at $29. Teamed Guard at $130 caps cover at $10,000 per case, while Remote's Contractor Management Plus costs $99 and covers penalties up to $100,000 per contractor. Global Payroll from $65 per employee is also more than Remote's $29 headline, though Remote adds implementation and payroll delivery fees on that product. If contractors or payroll-only are your main need, price these lines carefully.

Integrations are configured, not plug and play. Teamed claims 500+ supported HR, payroll and finance platforms but documents 19, with Personio the only one that has a published sync table. Everything else is set up against your account during onboarding. That is honest, but it means you should confirm in writing how your HRIS will connect before you sign.

Not for enterprise procurement. If you need a provider shaped around enterprise procurement and your own global HR department, Teamed itself will tell you to look elsewhere. On security it says it is aligned with ISO 27001 standards and handles data under GDPR, which is not the same as holding the certification.

How Teamed Compares

We checked these figures on each provider's own pricing page on 9 October 2026 (deel.com/pricing, remote.com/pricing, oysterhr.com/pricing and rippling.com/pricing). List prices are starting points; ask every provider for the full cost for your country and salary.

Provider EOR list price EOR coverage Contractor management Deposit and FX, per its pricing page
Teamed From $599 per employee/month 187+ countries (own entities in 57, partners elsewhere) From $49 per contractor/month Refundable one-month salary deposit; zero FX markup
Deel $599 per employee/month 130+ countries $49 per contractor/month Describes "competitive exchange rates" with "minimal fees"
Remote $699 per employee/month 90+ countries, all on entities Remote owns $29 per contractor/month Reserve payments only "in rare, high risk circumstances"; converts at the Remote FX rate
Oyster USD 699 per employee/month, annual discounts available 120+ countries USD 29 per contractor/month Refundable deposit required; FX fee if you pay in a currency other than the contract currency
Rippling Not listed; custom quote Not stated on its pricing page Not listed; custom quote Not stated on its pricing page

Teamed vs Deel. The starting EOR fee is the same $599, and so is the $49 contractor fee. Deel's advantage is breadth of product; Teamed's is a stated zero FX markup, a named specialist on every plan and a built-in route to your own entity. If you want one large self-serve platform, Deel; if you want the bill and the person to be the product, Teamed.

Teamed vs Remote. Remote costs $100 more per EOR employee at list price but owns every entity it employs through, rarely asks for deposits and has cheaper contractor and payroll-only plans. Teamed wins on EOR price, FX transparency and the graduation path. Buyers who care most about entity ownership in every country should lean Remote; buyers who care most about cost visibility and moving to their own entities should lean Teamed.

Teamed vs Oyster. Oyster lists EOR at USD 699 with annual discounts, also takes a refundable deposit and charges a currency conversion fee in some cases. Teamed is the cheaper and more transparent EOR at list price; Oyster's contractor plan is cheaper.

Teamed vs Rippling. Rippling quotes its global products as part of a custom bundle with its HR, IT and finance platform, so there is no list price to compare. It makes sense if you already run Rippling for HR and payroll at home. If you do not, Teamed is the simpler and more predictable purchase.

Pricing

Teamed publishes its service fees, which is still not a given in this market. Salary, employer contributions and benefits are passed through at cost on top of these fees. EU visitors see the prices in euros.

Service Teamed fee What it covers
Employer of Record From $599 per employee/month (£479 or €560) Local contract, payroll and tax, statutory benefits, IP assignment, terminations, a named specialist
Contractor Management From $49 per contractor/month Country-correct agreements in 187+ countries, payments in 80+ currencies
Teamed Guard $130 per contractor/month Misclassification cover up to $10,000 per case, quarterly classification review
Teamed Protect From $330 per contractor/month, or 15% of the monthly invoice if higher Teamed engages the contractor and carries the full misclassification liability
Global Payroll From $65 per employee/month Payroll for entities you already own, 187+ countries
Entity setup and management (GEMO) Custom quote Incorporation, registrations, payroll, filings and governance in 100+ countries

The terms are buyer-friendly: monthly contracts, $0 setup, $0 exit, a 90-day satisfaction guarantee, and cancellation with reasonable notice for your hire (typically 30 days, depending on the jurisdiction). Invoices are one per entity per month, payable in dollars, pounds or euros by card, bank transfer or direct debit.

The number to plan for is the cash before day one, not the fee. You fund the refundable one-month salary deposit and the first month's employment cost, and employer contributions alone can add anywhere from a few per cent to over 40% of salary depending on the country. Teamed's employer cost calculator shows those lines before you commit.

Who Should Use Teamed, and Who Should Skip It

Use Teamed if you are a startup or mid-sized company hiring your first employees abroad, you want to see and check every line of the bill, you value a named specialist over a self-serve dashboard, and you expect at least one country to justify its own entity in the next few years. It is also a sensible switch if your current EOR bundles fees into one all-in figure or takes a margin on currency.

Skip Teamed if you are a large enterprise with a global HR function and a formal procurement process, if most of your hires are in countries outside its 57 owned entities and you want a provider that owns the entity everywhere, if your main need is cheap contractor payments, or if you need deep, documented HRIS syncs on day one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Teamed a good employer of record?

For small and mid-sized companies, yes. It combines a competitive $599 starting fee, zero FX markup, no setup or exit fees and a named specialist, and it is one of the strongest options for companies that plan to move from EOR to their own entities. Check the owned-entity list for your countries, because outside those 57 it works through local partners.

How much does Teamed cost?

EOR starts at $599 per employee per month, contractor management at $49 per contractor per month and global payroll at $65 per employee per month. Teamed Guard is $130 and Teamed Protect starts at $330 per contractor per month. Entity setup is quoted per project. Salary, employer charges and benefits are passed through at cost.

Is Teamed cheaper than Deel or Remote?

On EOR list prices, Teamed matches Deel at $599 and is $100 below Remote's $699. Remote is cheaper for contractor management and payroll-only. The bigger saving with Teamed usually comes from zero FX markup and the absence of setup and exit fees, so compare full quotes, not headline fees.

How fast can Teamed onboard an employee?

In most markets, 24 hours from a signed offer to a compliant hire. Brazil, India, China and parts of Latin America take longer because of in-country registration and background checks, and Teamed gives a per-country lead time before you commit.

Can I move employees from Teamed's EOR to my own entity later?

Yes, and this is where Teamed is strongest. It sets up the entity in 100+ countries and transfers your employees by contract novation on the same platform, with records and tenure preserved and benefits carried over where local law allows.

The Bottom Line

Teamed is a fair-priced, unusually transparent EOR with a genuine point of difference: it plans for the day you no longer need it. For a company hiring its first people abroad that wants an auditable bill, a real specialist and a clean path to its own entities, we recommend putting Teamed on the shortlist and asking it for a costed quote for your country and salary. If you need entity ownership in every market or the cheapest contractor payments, compare it against Remote before you sign.
