How to Promote AI Assistant Software

Trusted by790,000+ Techpresso subscribers·Editorial policy·How we make money

Promote an AI assistant by demonstrating one question a user needs answered, the information the assistant can access, how it presents evidence and what the user must check. Then choose a channel that reaches people with that workflow and measure whether they complete a meaningful task. A fluent answer alone is not evidence of accuracy or a reason to trust the product with sensitive information.

We have a commercial interest in some options discussed here; our database and the figures in this article have not been independently audited.

Start with the question and the material behind the answer

An assistant for searching internal policy has a different buyer and a different evaluation from a general writing helper. Name the user, the recurring task and where the source material comes from. Show whether a response uses an uploaded file, connected workspace, public web page or only the conversation. Describe the product you actually sell, including access requirements and restrictions; do not borrow another provider's permissions claims.

For example, imagine a fictional HR operations team asking an assistant, “What is the current parental leave process?” The demo could use a fabricated policy file with a clear version date, show which section informed the answer and direct the reader to the responsible team for an exception. A second question could refer to an older policy: the demonstration should show whether the assistant distinguishes the versions or asks the user to resolve the conflict. This is an invented scenario, not a customer result.

A useful landing-page promise identifies the job and the evidence available. “Find a relevant passage in the documents you connect” describes a testable workflow if your assistant does it. “Always gives the right policy” is a reliability claim that needs evidence and an appropriate qualification. Explain the exact feature rather than suggesting that every assistant has access to private files or can cite them.

Make source checks part of the demonstration

A citation can help a user inspect an answer; it does not prove the claim is accurate, current or supported by the cited passage. Show a complete example: the question, the answer, the cited document and the relevant text in context. If the product has a source selector, demonstrate its settings. Show what happens when no relevant source is available and when the information is ambiguous.

Microsoft's explanation of Copilot grounding, checked 5 November 2026, describes how its own product can use accessible work data, attached material and web content, depending on settings. Microsoft recommends reviewing sources and confirming critical details. Google's guidance on Gemini sources, checked the same day, says related links are not provided for every response. These describe different products; neither establishes the capabilities, access rules or citation quality of your assistant.

A good product page can answer practical questions without promising perfection:

  • Can the user open the source and check the relevant passage?
  • What happens when the source has changed or access is removed?
  • Can an administrator control which repositories or files are connected?
  • Does the assistant say when it cannot find support for an answer?
  • Which settings and integrations are actually available to the buyer's account?

If the answer depends on a plan or configuration, link the appropriate documentation and show the condition next to the claim. If you have not tested a behavior, say so rather than writing a universal reassurance.

Explain permissions and data handling in plain language

Enterprise evaluators often need to know who can connect a data source, whose permissions determine access, how long inputs and outputs are retained, and which subprocessors handle them. The exact questions depend on the product and the organization. A concise security and privacy page should link to the detailed policy, describe supported controls and provide a route for unanswered questions. Avoid using “private,” “secure” or “compliant” as a substitute for a specific, documented control.

Consider a second fictional workflow: a project manager asks for a summary of a meeting transcript. The demo should identify who supplied the sample transcript, whether the generated summary remains in the product, and how the user can review or delete it if the product supports that operation. Show an uncertain action item as something to verify with a person. Do not use an identifiable meeting or claim permission from a customer unless the customer and the permitted scope have actually been established.

Permissions are also a sales issue: the person who tries a product may not be the person who can approve a workspace connection. Give both a short evaluation path. A user can test a fabricated document; an administrator can review integration and retention documentation before enabling access to real company content. Product claims should remain consistent across the ad, demo, security page and contract.

Read the category data as context, not a market forecast

Toolradar's direct AI Assistants category contained the following records at the stated extraction times. These are directory observations, not a census of every AI assistant or evidence that listed tools have active buyers. A product can belong to more than one category. Stored prices and source links may be incomplete, stale or wrong.

Read the category data as context, not a market forecast: How to Promote AI Assistant Software. Checked November 2026.
Observation Recorded value Scope
Published direct category members 1,583 tools Direct AI Assistants membership, 5 November 2026 at 22:05 UTC
Free or freemium flag 934 tools Same direct members; based on stored flags
Pricing check date present 1,174 tools A date being present does not prove the price is current
USD per-user entry-price cohort 100 tools; minimum $1, median $12, maximum $600 Weekly snapshot at 11:42 UTC; monthly-equivalent per-user amounts only
G2 source recorded 652 tools At least one stored source entry, not a rating or endorsement
Capterra source recorded 215 tools Same definition; sources may overlap
AI crawler requests 3,947 requests on 1,296 tool pages 30 October to 4 November; 964 requests verified by the method
Qualifying tool-page sessions 3,266 summed sessions across 27 tools Weekly 30-day snapshot; each included page has at least 50 sessions

The aggregate CSV and extraction method define each row. The price distribution covers only records with a stated per-user basis in USD; it excludes other billing units and unknown prices. It is not a recommended budget or a current quote. The tool-page sessions report explains the thresholded session series. Summing tool-page sessions can count the same session more than once, and the query has no separate bot exclusion. The crawler report distinguishes verified requests from the larger observed total; a request is not a citation, recommendation or purchase.

The category's practical lesson is to explain what makes your particular workflow understandable and verifiable. The figures do not identify the best channel, prove demand for your product or predict campaign performance.

Pick placements around the evaluator's workflow

List the people involved in a realistic evaluation: the eventual user, the person who can connect data, and anyone who approves procurement or security. They may have different questions and may be the same person in a small team. A newsletter read by AI practitioners may help reach users interested in trying a workflow; a specialist community or an integration partner's documentation may be more relevant if your product solves a narrower problem. Check each placement's audience, format, editorial rules and availability directly.

For a Dupple newsletter placement, ask which newsletter and format are proposed, when the ad would run, what creative is required and which reporting fields are included. Dupple sells these placements, so treat that option as a commercial offer rather than an independent recommendation. Our general AI product guide covers launch planning; the AI agent guide addresses products that take multi-step actions and need explicit handoff boundaries. Some products combine both behaviors, so select the guidance that matches what yours actually does.

Use the same discipline for any publisher: ask for a recent media kit, definitions of audience and engagement metrics, placement availability, creative constraints and a sample report. An audience description is not proof that a particular recipient is a qualified prospect. A publisher's historical open rate does not predict your clicks or sales.

Design the creative around a checkable example

Start with one concrete problem and an accurate product capability. For the fictional policy assistant, an ad might invite operations teams to test a sample policy question and inspect the cited passage. Its destination should show the source and answer, limitations, a clear explanation of access and a way to try the actual workflow. Do not imply access to a reader's company data or guarantee a correct response.

Make the call to action appropriate to the buying stage. A self-service trial is useful only if the reader can evaluate the product without making an unapproved connection. A short technical walkthrough may be more helpful where permissions require an administrator. If a conversation with sales is necessary, explain what happens next instead of implying that a click starts a free trial.

Keep one destination and tracking convention consistent during a comparison. If you change the audience, promise, creative and landing page at once, a difference in outcomes will be hard to interpret. A small experiment can test whether a particular message attracts the intended task, but it cannot establish a universal channel ranking.

Measure the task, not just the traffic

Before launch, define a useful event and the time window for observing it. For a document assistant, that could be a person opening a sample source after receiving an answer, or completing a test question with a fabricated document. If your product does not log that event, select an available measure and state its limitation. Track it alongside clicks and visits where technically and legally appropriate; do not assume a publisher shares individual subscriber identities.

Review what happened after the click: did visitors understand which sources the product could use? Did they reach a permission wall? Did they inspect an answer, abandon the sample or request an administrator review? A short opt-in feedback question can reveal a confusing step, but its respondents will not necessarily represent the full audience. Compare the result with your own baseline and campaign costs; avoid promising a conversion rate or payback period without evidence from comparable conditions.

Decide in advance what would justify another test: for example, a sufficient number of people completing the defined sample task and feedback that the workflow fits their role. The threshold belongs to your economics and available data. Where the sample is small, record uncertainty rather than declaring a winner.

What we could not verify

We did not independently audit Toolradar's category, price, source, crawler or session records. We cannot tell which listed products are direct competitors, whether their stored prices are currently available, which audiences will buy your assistant, or whether an assistant response is accurate in a particular deployment. We have no independent evidence here for a universal conversion rate, a guaranteed ad outcome or a claim that any particular customer approved a case study. Verify product capabilities and permission behavior in the configuration you intend to use.

Frequently asked questions

How do I explain an AI assistant in an advertisement?

Name a specific user task, the input the product uses and the action the user can take next. Link to an example that shows the answer and its supporting material when the product actually provides it. Qualify any claim about accuracy or integrations.

Should an assistant always show citations?

That depends on its purpose and features. If answers rely on external or connected material, a way to inspect the source can help evaluation, but a citation alone does not establish correctness. Explain what your product provides and where it can fail.

Are AI assistants and AI agents the same category?

The terms overlap and vendors use them differently. Describe the behavior: answering and drafting, taking actions, or both. For products that act across systems, show permissions and human approval points as well as the answer experience.

Does Toolradar's category size show how many buyers I can reach?

No. The count describes published direct directory records at one extraction time. It is not a count of unique buyers, market share or the audience of any advertising placement.

What should I measure after a newsletter placement?

Alongside the reporting actually provided, track a product action that represents the task, such as checking a source in a sample answer, if you can measure it appropriately. Interpret a small sample carefully and compare results with your own costs and objectives.
