Best Free AI Resume Builders in 2026: Free Plans Compared

Trusted by780,000+ Techpresso subscribers·Editorial policy·How we make money

Short answer: Kickresume is the only free plan on our list that allows unlimited resumes and unlimited downloads, but its AI writer is a paid feature. FlowCV's free plan is the better pick for one resume with watermark-free PDFs. If you need to pay, VisualCV's Pro plan is the lowest dollar price for a three-month search at $48.

A free resume builder usually starts you for nothing, then caps the one thing you need: the number of resumes, the PDF downloads, the AI writer, or how long the plan lasts. This guide compares what each free plan allows, using the public pricing page of seven vendors. Dupple does not test these products, so every limit below comes from the vendor's own page.

Dupple data: of the seven free plans we read on 10 October 2026, Kickresume is the only one that gives unlimited resumes and unlimited downloads at no cost. The other six cap resumes, downloads or the length of the plan.

Free plans at a glance

Tool Free plan Limits that matter on free Cheapest paid plan (as printed)
FlowCV €0, free forever 1 resume, unlimited watermark-free PDFs, no AI €60 a year (Pro, €5 a month billed yearly)
Kickresume €0 Unlimited resumes and downloads, no AI writer, 2 fonts €96 a year (€8 a month billed yearly)
Rezi $0 1 resume, 3 PDF downloads, limited AI $29 a month, or $149 once (Lifetime)
VisualCV $0 No unlimited PDFs, no ATS template, no cover letter builder $16 a month billed quarterly
Novoresume Free Basic 1 version, 1-page maximum, no cover letter €21.99 a month, €189.99 a year
Resume.io €0 1 resume, 1 cover letter, TXT downloads only €49.95 every three months
Enhancv €0 Valid for 7 days, 12 section items, Enhancv branding No readable price on the pricing page

Prices and limits as printed on each vendor's pricing page, checked 10 October 2026.

Methodology: how we checked

We read each tool's public pricing page on 10 October 2026 and copied the plan names, limits and prices as printed. Prices stay in the currency the page shows. Kickresume, FlowCV, Novoresume, Resume.io and Enhancv show euros, so we do not convert them. Only tools with a public pricing page on that date are included. We do not verify features beyond what the vendor states.

What a free plan can cap

Four limits decide whether a free plan works for a job search. The resume count matters if you tailor a separate resume for each role. Download rules matter, because some free plans export only text and others cap PDFs at three. AI access decides whether writing help costs money. Time matters if the plan expires before your search ends.

1

FlowCV: the best free plan for one watermark-free resume

FlowCV's free plan gives you one resume and one cover letter, with unlimited PDF downloads, no watermarks or branding, all templates and full design control. The FlowCV pricing page says the free plan includes "one resume with unlimited, watermark-free PDF downloads." That is the clearest free download promise in this group.

The Pro plan costs €60 a year, which is €5 a month billed yearly. It adds unlimited resumes and cover letters, a job application tracker and AI features.

The catch is the resume count. If you downgrade from Pro, only your first resume stays editable. Extra versions stay saved but locked until you pay again, which makes the free plan a poor fit for tailoring a different resume to each role.

2

Kickresume: the only free plan with unlimited resumes and downloads

Kickresume's free plan has no caps on resumes or downloads. Its FAQ says "We don't limit the number of downloads." You get four resume templates, four cover letter templates, 20,000 pre-written phrases and more than 1,500 examples, all at €0 on the Kickresume pricing page.

The limits sit on the writing and design side. The AI Writer is listed among the Premium features, and the free plan has two fonts against 26 on Premium. If you want drafting help without a fee, our free AI writing tools guide covers the general options. Premium costs €24 a month, €18 a month billed quarterly (€54 every three months), or €8 a month billed yearly (€96 a year). The FAQ says students who prove their status with ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS can have a free subscription.

Watch out: if the AI writer is why you are shopping, you pay from day one, because the free plan has no AI writer.

3

Rezi: unlimited cover letters on free, but only three PDF downloads

Rezi's free plan costs $0. It covers one resume, one AI interview and three PDF downloads. The free card also lists an AI resume writer and editor, and the FAQ says the free AI is limited, naming keyword targeting and analysis. Unlimited cover letters and resignation letters are included too, according to the Rezi pricing page and its FAQ.

Three PDF downloads is a tight cap. Only Resume.io's free plan, which offers TXT downloads and no PDF, is stricter. A resume that goes through several rounds of edits and exports will hit the limit fast.

Pro costs $29 a month and adds unlimited resumes, unlimited downloads and full AI features. The Lifetime plan is a one-time $149 that includes the Pro features but not the monthly expert review. Rezi's FAQ offers a 30-day refund on paid plans.

The Lifetime plan only pays off on a long search. Monthly Pro totals $145 after five months and $174 after six, so the $149 plan costs less from the sixth month. For how Rezi fits a full search, see our paid resume builder comparison and our guide to tailoring a resume with AI.

4

VisualCV: the cheapest paid plan in dollars, with a thin free account

VisualCV's free account is "always free, no hidden fees" at $0, and it gives you 30-plus templates, a first resume and a format preview. The free column of its pricing page marks several features as not included: unlimited PDF downloads, the ATS-friendly template, the cover letter builder, shareable links and resume performance analytics. The free account is for trying templates before you pay.

The Pro plan is $16 a month billed quarterly. Over a three-month search that comes to $48, the lowest dollar figure for a full paid plan in this group. Pro adds unlimited resumes, unlimited PDFs, the ATS-friendly template, the cover letter builder and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The page does not list an AI writer for Pro, so pick Rezi if AI drafting is the job. For other options, see our VisualCV alternatives guide.

5

Novoresume: a single one-page version for free

The Basic plan gives you one version of your resume, a one-page maximum, predefined layouts, three fonts and 30 color themes, but no cover letter. Premium features can be tried on Basic, but Basic cannot download them, according to the Novoresume pricing page.

Premium costs €21.99 a month, €49.99 for a quarter, or €189.99 for a year. The page says it is not a subscription and does not renew automatically. Premium removes watermarks and branding, allows a 10-page resume, adds a matching cover letter and offers 12 fonts.

Watch out: a one-page cap is tight for any long work history, and Basic has no cover letter to pair with the resume.

6

Resume.io: one resume, text-only downloads

Resume.io's free plan allows one resume and one cover letter, with downloads only in TXT format, plus limited sharing and analytics. PDF downloads are part of the paid plans. The paid options on the Resume.io pricing page are a 7-day trial at €2.95, then €24.95 every four weeks, or a quarterly plan at €49.95 every three months. The trial carries a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Watch out: a TXT file drops the layout, so the free plan works for drafting, not for sending a formatted resume.

7

Enhancv: a free plan that lasts seven days

Enhancv's free plan is valid for 7 days. It includes all resume templates, basic sections and design tools, up to 12 section items, and Enhancv branding. The free plan does not state a resume count, so do not assume you can make several.

The paid Pro Quarterly plan lists 300 resumes and cover letters, no branding, unlimited section items and an ATS check. The Enhancv pricing page does not show a readable list price, so this page quotes none. Check the current price there before you buy.

The cost of the paid upgrade over three months

A three-month search is a realistic test for a paid plan. Here is what each plan costs over one quarter, using the figures as printed:

  • VisualCV Pro: $48 ($16 x 3, billed quarterly), the lowest dollar figure.
  • Rezi Pro: $87 ($29 x 3, billed monthly).
  • Rezi Lifetime: $149 once. It costs more than Pro for the first five months and less from the sixth.
  • Kickresume: €54 per quarter (€18 a month billed quarterly), or €96 a year on the yearly plan.
  • Resume.io: €49.95 per quarter.
  • Novoresume: €49.99 for a quarter.
  • FlowCV: €60 billed yearly, the lowest annual figure on the page.

We do not convert euros into dollars, so the two groups are not ranked against each other. Within dollars, VisualCV is the cheapest for a quarter. Within euros, the lowest quarter is Resume.io at €49.95 and the lowest year is FlowCV's Pro plan.

How to choose

  • One resume for one role: start with FlowCV's free plan. It is the one free plan here that states watermark-free PDFs, and it is free forever.
  • Several resumes for free: Kickresume, which has no resume cap on free, but no AI writer.
  • Cover letters for free: Rezi, whose free plan allows unlimited cover and resignation letters. FlowCV's free plan includes one.
  • Daily AI writing: a paid plan. Rezi Pro is the dollar option with an AI writer, and FlowCV Pro is the euro option with AI features. For prompts that draft bullets for any resume, see our best AI tools for resume writing.
  • A single quarter of paid use: VisualCV Pro at $48, if you do not need AI drafting.

Common mistakes

  • Treating free as unlimited. Rezi allows one resume and three PDF downloads, and Resume.io's free plan downloads only TXT files.
  • Paying monthly for a long search. Rezi Pro's monthly total passes the $149 Lifetime price in the sixth month.
  • Expecting an AI writer on free. Kickresume's AI Writer is Premium, FlowCV's AI features are Pro, and Rezi's free AI is limited, per its FAQ. For drafting bullets with a general chatbot, see how to use ChatGPT for a resume.
  • Ignoring branding. Enhancv's free plan carries Enhancv branding, and Novoresume lists "no watermark" among its Premium features.
  • Assuming the free plan lasts. Enhancv's free plan is valid for seven days, so it can expire mid-search.

FAQ

What is the best free AI resume builder in 2026?

FlowCV for one resume with unlimited, watermark-free PDF downloads. Kickresume for unlimited resumes and downloads, if you do not need the AI writer. Rezi if cover letters matter, since its free plan includes unlimited cover and resignation letters, but its PDF downloads cap at three.

Is there a free AI resume builder with no watermark?

Yes. FlowCV's free plan lists "no watermarks or branding" and unlimited PDF downloads, but its AI features are Pro-only. Enhancv's free plan carries Enhancv branding, and Novoresume lists "no watermark" among its Premium features.

How many resumes can I create for free?

FlowCV allows one resume and one cover letter on its free plan. Resume.io allows one resume and one cover letter, Rezi allows one resume, and Novoresume allows a single version. Kickresume is the only free plan here with unlimited resumes.

Which paid plan is cheapest and includes AI?

In dollars, Rezi Pro is the only plan on this list with an AI writer, at $29 a month. VisualCV Pro is cheaper at $16 a month billed quarterly, but its page does not list an AI writer. In euros, FlowCV's yearly Pro at €60 includes AI features, but we do not compare euros with dollars.

Does the free plan include an AI writer?

Not on Kickresume or FlowCV. Kickresume lists its AI Writer among Premium features, and FlowCV's AI features are part of Pro. Rezi's free card lists an AI resume writer and editor, but its FAQ says free AI is limited to tools such as keyword targeting and analysis.

Bottom line

For most job seekers, start with FlowCV's free plan if you need one resume with watermark-free PDFs, or Kickresume's free plan if you need unlimited resumes and can do without AI writing. Pay only for the feature that blocks you. If you do pay in dollars for a quarter, VisualCV at $48 is the lowest dollar figure here, but it has no AI writer. Confirm every price on the vendor's page before you buy, because plans and prices change.
