Updated November 4, 2026: prices re-checked on each vendor's US store, product page or pricing page. Compared from vendor specs and pricing pages, not tested hands-on.
Bambu Lab P1S ranks first at $349 on sale, as of November 2026, tied with the Anycubic Kobra S1 on price and score and ahead of it on build size. Bambu Lab A1 mini is third at $199 on sale, the lowest sale price in this table, with an open frame. Flashforge Adventurer 5M is fourth at $249 on sale. The sections below cover the variants: under $300, multicolor, enclosed and easy to set up.
Dupple data: over 24 months at one 1 kg refill a month, the filament bill is larger than the printer's own sale price on seven of the eight models here. The filament bill runs from $323.76 to $647.76 at 24 months, computed from each brand's own US store or product page on November 4, 2026. The Bambu Lab P2S, at $449, is the exception. The cost table below shows the arithmetic.

The eight, in ranking order
1. Bambu Lab P1S - best for an enclosed printer with a stated 15-minute setup

$349 sale price on Bambu Lab's US store, read November 4, 2026. The store's "Typical Price" of $399 is not labelled a list price. Bambu's Black Friday sale page runs to December 1, 2026.
The page states a fully enclosed design, auto-bed leveling, a 256 x 256 x 256 mm build and a 15-minute setup from unboxing to the first print.
Best for: a first printer that will want an enclosure and a 256 mm bed.
Pros: enclosed, auto-bed leveling, a stated 15-minute setup and a 256 mm build.
Cons: the setup and enclosure claims are the vendor's own, not checked on a printer here. The AMS Combo adds $130 at $479 sale.
Bambu's PLA Basic refill is $14.99 for 1 kg (refill, spool not included). The same roll with a spool is $17.99.
2. Anycubic Kobra S1 - best for an enclosed first printer

$349 sale price on Anycubic's US store, read November 4, 2026. The store labels $549 as the regular price. Its Black Friday calendar shows the live phase, "Black Friday Sale Live", running through November 20, 2026.
The page states a fully enclosed CoreXY frame, LeviQ3.0 auto-leveling, a 250 x 250 x 250 mm build, a recommended 300 mm/s and a maximum of 600 mm/s, and a 15-minute unbox-to-print. It weighs 18 kg.
Best for: a first printer for a home or classroom where the enclosure matters more than the lowest price.
Pros: fully enclosed, LeviQ3.0 auto-leveling and a stated 15-minute setup.
Cons: at 18 kg it needs a sturdy table. The ACE 2 Pro combo is $429 on one listing and $459 on another, both with $599 struck through, and the page says TPU 95A is not compatible with the ACE 2 Pro.
Anycubic's PLA Basic refill is $16.99 in 20 colours (regular $19.99). One pink colour is $15.63 in a flash sale. Refills are spool-free.
3. Bambu Lab A1 mini - best for the lowest sale price

$199 sale price on Bambu Lab's US store, read November 4, 2026, with $219 beside it as a "Typical Price." Bambu's Black Friday sale page runs to December 1, 2026.
The page states full-auto calibration, a 180 mm cube, a 500 mm/s tool head and pre-assembly, with about 20 minutes to set up.
Best for: a first printer on a tight budget that will stay in PLA and PETG.
Pros: full-auto calibration, pre-assembly and about 20 minutes of setup.
Cons: the frame is open, and the FAQ advises against ABS, ASA, PC or PA. The A1 mini combo costs $100 more on sale.
Bambu's PLA Basic refill is $14.99 for 1 kg (refill, spool not included). Bulk buyers pay $9.74 a roll for 10 or more.
4. Flashforge Adventurer 5M - best for a printer that arrives mostly built

$249 sale price on Flashforge's product page, read November 4, 2026, with $399 as the regular price. The page also shows a "Black Friday Auto Discount -$170" line, and the Black Friday page lists the printer at $229. We did not verify the conditions of either discount, so this card uses the product page's price.
The page states a 220 mm cube, a 600 mm/s maximum speed, 95% pre-assembly and a setup in 10 minutes or less.
Best for: someone who wants a printer running the same day and does not need an enclosure.
Pros: 95% pre-assembled, a stated 10-minute setup and a 600 mm/s maximum speed.
Cons: open by default, and the enclosure is a separate kit.
The 1 kg filament we could confirm on Flashforge's US store is its HS PLA, at $26.99 with no regular price shown. It is a high-speed filament, so the cost figures run high.
Flashforge's Adventurer 5M page
5. ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2 - best for an enclosed printer with a 4-color option

$319 sale price on ELEGOO's US store, read November 4, 2026. The page shows $359 struck through with no label. ELEGOO's Black Friday window runs from November 2 to December 1, 2026, 3:00 AM EST.
The page states a 256 mm cube, an enclosed chamber, 121-point auto-leveling, 500 mm/s, a 350 °C nozzle, a 5-inch touchscreen and a net weight of 17.5 kg.
Best for: an enclosed first printer that can grow into 4-color printing.
Pros: enclosed chamber, 121-point auto-leveling and a 350 °C nozzle.
Cons: no setup time on the page. The CANVAS combo is $369 sale on its own page, struck from $449, which is $50 more.
ELEGOO's PLA Basic refill is $13.49 for 1 kg. It is spool-free.
ELEGOO's Centauri Carbon 2 page
6. Bambu Lab A1 full-size - best for a 256 mm bed with full-auto calibration

$259 sale price for the base printer on Bambu Lab's US store, read November 4, 2026. The store shows $299 as a "Typical Price." The AMS lite combo is $359 on sale.
The page states a 256 mm cube, a 500 mm/s tool head, full-auto calibration that covers bed level and a net weight of 8.3 kg.
Best for: a first printer that needs more room than a 180 mm bed and will use the AMS for multicolor.
Pros: a 256 mm cube, full-auto calibration and 500 mm/s maximum speed.
Cons: Bambu's own FAQ says a heatbed cable issue caused a recall in January 2024, and that units sold after January 30, 2024 carry the fix. The page gives no setup time and advises against enclosing the printer.
The PLA Basic refill is the same $14.99 (refill, spool not included).
7. Creality Ender-3 V3 KE - best for a low-cost open frame with self-test

$279 on Creality's own product page (creality.com), priced in USD, read November 4, 2026. Its Buy Now link goes to a store page that no longer loads, and the two store listings we found (one on Creality's US store, one on its Asia store), at $259 struck from $299, show Sold Out, so check stock before you plan around it.
The page states auto leveling with a one-tap self-test, a 500 mm/s maximum speed and quick assembly. The build volume is not confirmed in our read, so this printer is not compared on size.
Best for: an open frame with a self-test that does not need an enclosure.
Pros: auto leveling with a one-tap self-test and a 500 mm/s maximum speed.
Cons: the page lists ABS and ASA as supported, but an open frame suits them less well than the enclosed picks. No assembly time is given.
Creality's Hyper PLA RFID roll is $21 on the store page, with $31.90 struck through and no end date printed.
8. Bambu Lab P2S - best for an enclosed Bambu on a higher budget

$449 sale price on Bambu Lab's US store, read November 4, 2026, with a "Typical Price" of $549 beside it.
The page states a fully enclosed chamber, a 256 mm cube and automatic flow dynamics calibration. It states no automatic bed leveling and no setup time, so it scores one point under the rule and ranks last.
Best for: an enclosed Bambu buyer who accepts the highest price on this list.
Pros: fully enclosed, with a 256 mm build.
Cons: the highest price here, and no bed-leveling or setup claim on the page.
The PLA Basic refill is the same $14.99 (refill, spool not included).
Under $300, multicolor, enclosed and easy to use: the variants
Under $300: four printers qualify, the A1 mini on sale, the Adventurer 5M on sale, the A1 on sale and the Ender-3 V3 KE at $279 on Creality's product page, with no sale label (its store listings showed Sold Out, see card 7). The Centauri Carbon 2 is at $319, so it sits above the line.
Under $500: every printer in the ranking is under $500 on the store figures read November 4, 2026. The highest combo this page quotes is the P1S AMS Combo at $479 sale.
Multicolor adds the feeder's price. The A1 mini and A1 AMS combos cost $100 more on sale, the P1S AMS Combo $130 more, the Kobra S1 with the ACE 2 Pro $80 more and the Centauri Carbon 2 CANVAS combo $50 more. Each figure is the gap between listed store prices, not a bundle breakdown.
Enclosed for kids or a classroom: the P1S, Kobra S1, Centauri Carbon 2 and P2S are the four enclosed picks. None of their pages states a child-safety rating, so check your school's rules before buying for a classroom.
Easy to set up: the Adventurer 5M states 10 minutes or less, the P1S and Kobra S1 state 15 minutes and the A1 mini states about 20. The other four state no setup time.
Which costs least after 12 and 24 months?
None of these printers has a monthly plan on its page, so the recurring cost is filament. The model assumes one 1 kg refill a month. That is a fixed assumption, not a usage figure from any vendor. Nozzle and build plate replacements are excluded because their prices were not read in this round.
The arithmetic is the same for every row: the printer's sale price, plus the refill price times 12 for a year, or times 24 for two years. For the Kobra S1, $16.99 times 12 is $203.88, and $16.99 times 24 is $407.76. Added to $349, the totals are $552.88 at 12 months and $756.76 at 24 months.
| Printer | Printer, sale or listed | 1 kg filament, US store | 12 months | 24 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bambu Lab P1S | $349 | $14.99 (refill, spool not included) | $528.88 | $708.76 |
| Anycubic Kobra S1 | $349 | $16.99 (refill, 20 colours) | $552.88 | $756.76 |
| Bambu Lab A1 mini | $199 | $14.99 (refill, spool not included) | $378.88 | $558.76 |
| Flashforge Adventurer 5M | $249 | $26.99 (HS PLA) | $572.88 | $896.76 |
| ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2 | $319 | $13.49 (refill, spool-free) | $480.88 | $642.76 |
| Bambu Lab A1 full-size | $259 | $14.99 (refill, spool not included) | $438.88 | $618.76 |
| Creality Ender-3 V3 KE | $279 | $21 (Hyper PLA RFID) | $531.00 | $783.00 |
| Bambu Lab P2S | $449 | $14.99 (refill, spool not included) | $628.88 | $808.76 |
Three notes on the filament column. Bambu's $14.99 is the refill, and Bambu's store says a refill needs a spool, so a first roll with a spool is $17.99, $3 more than the table assumes. Buying every roll with a spool would add $36 a year. Anycubic and ELEGOO refills are spool-free too. The Flashforge figure is high-speed PLA, which may overstate a basic PLA bill. Over 24 months, seven of the eight filament bills pass the printer's own sale price; the P2S does not.
Who should buy which
- An enclosed first printer with a stated setup time: Bambu Lab P1S.
- An enclosed first printer that can sit on a sturdy table: Anycubic Kobra S1, with the ACE 2 Pro's TPU limit in mind.
- The lowest sale price: Bambu Lab A1 mini, for PLA and PETG in an open frame.
- Printing the same day: Flashforge Adventurer 5M, arriving 95% assembled.
- Enclosed with a 4-color path: ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2, if you accept an unstated setup time.
- A 256 mm bed without an enclosure: Bambu Lab A1 full-size, after you read the 2024 recall note in its card.
- A cheap open frame with self-test: Creality Ender-3 V3 KE, if its unconfirmed build volume does not matter and you can find it in stock, since its store listings showed Sold Out on November 4, 2026.
FAQ
Which 3D printer is best for a beginner in 2026?
Bambu Lab P1S ranks first at $349 on sale, as of November 2026. It meets all three criteria in the methodology, and its 256 mm build beats the Kobra S1's 250 mm on the final tie-break. The Kobra S1 follows at the same price, and the A1 mini is the lowest-price open-frame pick.
Is an enclosed 3D printer worth it for a child or a classroom?
An enclosure holds heat around the print and keeps hands away from the moving parts while it runs. The P1S, Kobra S1, Centauri Carbon 2 and P2S are the four enclosed picks. None of their pages states a child-safety rating, so check your school's rules and keep the printer out of reach while it runs.
Which 3D printer costs under $300?
Four printers: the A1 mini at $199 on sale, the Adventurer 5M at $249 on sale, the A1 at $259 on sale and the Ender-3 V3 KE at $279 with no sale label. All four read November 4, 2026, on each vendor's own site. The KE's $279 is from Creality's product page, and its store listings showed Sold Out, so check stock first.
Which beginner printers do multicolor, and what does it add?
The A1 mini and the A1 use AMS combos at $299 and $359 on sale. The P1S uses its AMS Combo at $479 on sale. The Kobra S1 uses the ACE 2 Pro combo at $429, with a second listing at $459. The Centauri Carbon 2 uses the CANVAS combo at $369 on sale. The Kobra's page says TPU 95A is not compatible with its ACE 2 Pro.
Which beginner printer is easiest to set up?
The Adventurer 5M states a setup of 10 minutes or less and arrives 95% pre-assembled. The P1S and Kobra S1 state 15 minutes, and the A1 mini states about 20. The Centauri Carbon 2, the A1, the Ender-3 V3 KE and the P2S state no setup time, so check their manuals before you buy.
Why is Prusa not in the ranking?
Prusa is excluded by the $500 price ceiling in the rule. Its US store lists the CORE One+ assembled from $1,299 (kit from $999) and the Original Prusa MK4S assembled at $999 (kit at $729), both read on November 4, 2026. The rendered US page does not say whether duty is included. The Bambu Lab vs Prusa vs Creality comparison on Dupple covers Prusa's printers in more depth.
Methodology
We compared eight current printers that each brand lists on its own US store or product page, read on November 4, 2026, in US dollars. Each spec comes from the same vendor page. The results are from vendor specs and pricing pages, not tested hands-on.
The ranking rule is mechanical. Step 1, eligibility: the price on the vendor's own US store or product page, read on November 4, 2026, must be $500 or less. Step 2, score: one point for each of three criteria its own page states, namely automatic bed leveling or bed calibration, a fully enclosed chamber, and pre-assembly or a setup time of 30 minutes or less. Step 3, order: highest score first; ties go to the lower price; a tie on both goes to the larger stated build volume. The P1S and the Kobra S1 each score 3 at $349, and the P1S's 256 mm build beats the Kobra's 250 mm, so the P1S ranks first. The A1 mini, Adventurer 5M and Centauri Carbon 2 score 2 and sort by price. The A1, Ender-3 V3 KE and P2S score 1 and sort by price.
No paid placement decides the order, and no brand on this page has a live program with Dupple. Prusa is excluded by the price ceiling. The Snapmaker U1 is left out by the $500 ceiling: its US store lists $699 on sale, struck from $999, read November 4, 2026. Its page is us.snapmaker.com/products/snapmaker-u1-3d-printer. The Flashforge AD5X and Anycubic Kobra 3 were left out to keep the list to printers with complete store figures.

Start with the enclosure question. For a classroom or a child's room, the P1S, Kobra S1, Centauri Carbon 2 and P2S are the four enclosed picks, and the A1 mini is the lowest sale price. Before you buy, check the filament line in the cost table: at one kilogram a month, the filament costs more than the printer within two years on seven of the eight models.
