Updated November 4, 2026: prices re-checked on each vendor's US store or pricing page. Compared from vendor specs and pricing pages, not tested hands-on.
Buy the Speediance Gym Monster 2 if you want a cable strength machine at home, have about 9 square feet to spare, and will pay for the Wellness Plus plan only if you want its AI training. As of November 2026, the Basic package is $2,771 on Speediance's US store (sale price, read November 4, 2026). Tonal 2 costs $4,790 to buy with the Essentials bundle ($4,295 without the bundle) and needs a membership for most features. Skip the Gym Monster 2 if you need more than 220 lb of resistance.

Gym Monster 2 at a glance
The Gym Monster 2 is an all-in-one cable machine with motor-driven resistance. Speediance says it needs no assembly, drilling or wall mounting, and the machine folds for storage. The table gives the figures a buyer needs.
| Item | Speediance's figure |
|---|---|
| Resistance | Digital, from two 800 W motors. Up to 220 lb (100 kg), adjustable in 1 lb (0.5 kg) steps. |
| Single-arm limit | 110 lb on the Gym Monster 2; 130 lb on the 2S models. |
| Resistance modes | Standard, chain, eccentric and constant. |
| Pulley heights | 10 positions, from 306 mm to 1,656 mm. |
| Footprint, unfolded | 48.03 × 27.16 × 72.83 in (1.22 × 0.69 × 1.85 m); about 9.04 sq ft. |
| Footprint, folded | 14.56 in deep; about 2.69 sq ft. |
| Product weight | 171.96 lb (78.00 kg) in the spec table. The FAQ gives 85 kg. |
| Screen and connectivity | 21.5 in 1080p touchscreen; Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz; Bluetooth 5.0; 128 GB storage. |
| Warranty | 24 months on the main unit; 12 months on accessories. |
| Body-weight limits | No user body-weight limit stated for the machine. The FAQ quotes part limits: Pal 150 kg (330.69 lb); flat and incline bench 200 kg (440.92 lb); pad of Monster 250 kg (551.15 lb). |
The 220 lb figure is the resistance the machine can produce, not a limit on the person using it. Speediance states no user body-weight limit for the machine. Its FAQ answers "What is the maximum weight limit that the product can withstand?" with limits for three parts: 150 kg (330.69 lb) for the Pal, 200 kg (440.92 lb) for the flat and incline bench, and 250 kg (551.15 lb) for the pad of Monster (speediance.com/pages/faq, read November 4, 2026, 08:39 CET). Speediance prints no user height limit on the pages we read, so check that before you buy if it matters to you.

Packages and sale prices
Four Gym Monster 2 packages are on sale on Speediance's US store. The Basic package is the entry point. Each step up costs more, and Works adds a flat bench.
| Package | Sale figure | Crossed-out figure (no label on the page) | Added over Basic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $2,771 | $3,849 | None. Speediance's comparison list shows the accessory set. |
| Works | $2,915 | $4,049 | $144, adds a flat bench. |
| Works Plus | $3,023 | $4,199 | $252. Speediance tags it "Best Value". |
| Family Plus | $3,311 | $4,599 | $540. Speediance tags it "Most Popular". |
The store prints no end date for these sale figures: the offer date in its product data moves forward each day. The Black Friday banner on the store says "up to $1288 off" and gives no end date either. The crossed-out figures carry no label on the page, so we do not treat them as list prices. The 2S models are sold out in the US.
What the Gym Monster 2 does well
- Setup is light. Speediance says the machine ships assembled and needs no drilling or wall mounting. Its FAQ says only the flat bench needs a simple screw assembly.
- The resistance is adjustable in small steps. Speediance states 1 lb (0.5 kg) increments, and four modes, so the same machine can run a standard set or an eccentric one.
- The footprint is modest for a full-body cable system. About 9 sq ft unfolded and 2.7 sq ft folded, on two wheels that work on flat floors.
- It starts with an assessment. Speediance's FAQ says the first session runs a whole-body strength check and sets the starting weights for each movement.
- Returns are stated plainly. The product page lists 30-day returns and free shipping.
The catch
The machine is heavy to move: 171.96 lb in the spec table, and the FAQ says the wheels work only on a flat surface. The spec table and the FAQ disagree on weight, 78 kg against 85 kg, so ask Speediance for the figure before you plan a doorway or a stairwell.
Delivery is by truck, and the driver calls to book a time. The product page's shipping section says orders typically arrive within 5 to 7 days, and the FAQ block on the same product page says 7 to 10 days. Speediance's white-glove delivery costs $150 with ground-floor delivery, $180 with second-floor delivery and $210 with third-floor delivery.
The ceiling is 220 lb, and the single-arm limit is 110 lb on the Gym Monster 2. The 2S models take 130 lb per arm, but they are sold out. Tonal 2 quotes 250 lb of digital weight, so the Speediance is the lower ceiling of the two.
The training plans and AI features sit behind the Wellness plans, covered in the next section. Extended warranty is optional: the 3-year Care plan costs $269.10 and the 4-year plan $314.10 when added to a Gym Monster 2.
Speediance's own page shows a 4.9 out of 5 rating from 481 reviews. The brand collects those reviews, so read them as a sample of owners, not an independent count.
Membership: what works without a plan
Speediance's FAQ says you can still use most of the Gym Monster 2's training features without Wellness Plan, but not the training plans or the AI features. Those are the paid part of the machine. The Wellness pages list two plans and a family option:
- Wellness Go: $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year, for health and recovery insights.
- Wellness Plus: $19.99 a month or $169.99 a year, for AI training and health coaching. A yearly family plan for two users is $269.99.
Speediance lists in-depth health and workout analysis, a fitness age and menstrual cycle guidance as Wellness Plus features. Those are the brand's descriptions, and we did not check them against any outside measure. The FAQ says a plan bought through Google Pay or Apple Pay can be cancelled in the app store, and one bought on the machine is managed in the member area.
Cost over 12 and 24 months
The table adds the device price to the membership over 12 and 24 months. It leaves out tax, delivery and Tonal's installation (from $295). The Basic package is the base case, with the Family Plus, the Gym Monster 3 Core and the two Amp options for comparison.
| Setup | Total, 12 months | Total, 24 months |
|---|---|---|
| Gym Monster 2 Basic, no plan | $2,771.00 | $2,771.00 |
| Gym Monster 2 Basic, Wellness Plus monthly | $3,010.88 | $3,250.76 |
| Gym Monster 2 Basic, Wellness Plus yearly | $2,940.99 | $3,110.98 |
| Gym Monster 2 Family Plus, Wellness Plus yearly | $3,480.99 | $3,650.98 |
| Gym Monster 3 Core, Wellness Plus yearly | $3,858.99 | $4,028.98 |
| Amp device, white-glove install, membership monthly | $2,227.00 | $2,659.00 |
| Amp DIY (sale price), membership monthly | $2,027.00 | $2,459.00 |
| Tonal 2 bought with bundle, Tonal membership monthly | $5,509.40 | $6,228.80 |
| Tonal 2 rented, membership, delivery and installation included | $3,348.00 | $6,696.00 |
Dupple data: computed from vendor prices on November 4, 2026. The arithmetic, once. Wellness Plus monthly is $19.99 × 12 = $239.88 and × 24 = $479.76. Yearly is $169.99, and two years of it is $339.98. Tonal membership is $59.95 × 12 = $719.40 and × 24 = $1,438.80. Tonal rent is $279 × 12 = $3,348 and × 24 = $6,696. Amp membership is $36 × 12 = $432 and × 24 = $864, added to the device price of $1,795 (white-glove) or $1,595 (DIY). Each total adds the device once. Tonal's first-month-free rental offer ends November 30, 2026, and is not in these totals.
Over two years, the Basic package with a yearly plan comes to $3,110.98. That is about $3,118 under Tonal 2 bought with its monthly membership, and about $3,585 under renting Tonal 2 for the same period. Tonal's membership pages print a monthly price only, with a 12-month commitment, so the annual cost of that plan is not on the page. Amp's 24-month totals, $2,659 with white-glove installation and $2,459 for the DIY version, come in under the Speediance Basic with a yearly plan, but Amp's resistance tops out at 100 lb.
Gym Monster 2 against Tonal 2, Gym Monster 3 and Amp
Tonal 2 is the rival most buyers cross-shop with the Gym Monster 2. The Gym Monster 3 is the same brand's newer model, so it is the second choice to compare. Amp is the third, with white-glove installation included in its device price. The table puts the four side by side.
| Option | Buying route | Resistance | Membership | Footprint | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Speediance Gym Monster 2 Basic | $2,771 sale to buy | Up to 220 lb, digital | Optional; most training works without it | About 9 sq ft unfolded; 2.7 sq ft folded | A buyer who wants a cable machine at a lower entry cost than Tonal 2 or the Gym Monster 3 Core |
| Tonal 2 | $4,790 with bundle to buy; $279 a month to rent | Up to 250 lb, digital, in 1 lb steps | Required for most features; $59.95 a month on a 12-month commitment; included in rent | 7 × 7 ft workout area; wall-mounted, 21.5 in wide | A buyer who wants a wall unit with coaching and will pay for the membership |
| Speediance Gym Monster 3 Core | $3,689 sale to buy | Up to 220 lb on the GM3; 260 lb on the GM3S | Same Wellness Plus plan; optional | About 9 sq ft unfolded; 2.7 sq ft folded | A buyer who wants the newer model and a 23.8 in screen |
| Amp device | $1,795 to buy, white-glove install included | Up to 100 lb | $36 a month, 12-month minimum | 3 ft wide, 7 ft tall, per Amp's device page | A buyer who wants an installer to set it up and 100 lb of resistance is enough |
Speediance vs Tonal: which one for which buyer
The membership is the biggest difference. Tonal says most features need an active membership and sets a 12-month commitment. Tonal's own membership table lists 340-plus moves and up to 250 lb of digital weight for non-members. Personal weight, progress tracking, classes, programs, the spotter and form cues are for members only. Speediance's plan is optional, and its FAQ says most training features work without it.
The entry price favors Speediance. The Basic package sells for $2,771 and Tonal 2 for $4,790 with the bundle it needs, a gap of $2,019. Tonal's rental removes the upfront cost at $279 a month, with membership, delivery and installation included, and it can be returned at no cancellation fee.
The installation differs as well. Tonal is wall-mounted, with installation starting at $295 at checkout and typically done in 2 to 4 weeks. The Gym Monster 2 needs no mounting, so it needs about 9 sq ft of floor and a clear path for its wheels.
Pick Speediance if the purchase cost matters most and you do not want a wall mount. Pick Tonal if you want the coaching built into the membership, and you accept a monthly bill for as long as you train on it.
Tonal 2: when to pick it instead
Tonal 2 is a wall-mounted unit with 250 lb of digital weight and a 7 by 7 ft workout area, per Tonal's product page. It costs $4,790 to buy with the Essentials Accessories Bundle ($4,295 without it), which Tonal says is required for full functionality and its 300-plus moves. Renting costs $279 a month and includes the membership. Tonal 1 Certified Refurbished rents for $219 a month, with 200 lb of personalized weight.
Tonal also sells Tonal 2 Glacier, a finish with a reflective display and built-in storage, at a $4,795 MSRP or $5,290 with the Essentials bundle, and its page gives "Installs in January 2027" as the installation timing (tonal.com/products/tonal-2-glacier, read November 4, 2026, 08:39 CET).
Pick Tonal 2 instead if you want the rental exit. Tonal's rental page says it picks the machine up at no charge when you finish, with no cancellation or return fees.

Speediance Gym Monster 3 Core: when to pick it instead
The Gym Monster 3 Core is $3,689 on Speediance's US store, read November 4, 2026, which is $918 more than the Basic package. The Gym Monster 3 has a 220 lb maximum, weighs 181 lb and has a 23.8 in touchscreen at 2560 by 1440. The Gym Monster 3S, at $4,139 for the Core, goes to 260 lb and weighs 190 lb.
Pick the Gym Monster 3 if you want the larger screen and Wi-Fi 6 with dual-band support, which the Gym Monster 2 does not list. Pick the 3S only if you need more than 220 lb of resistance.

Amp device: when to pick it instead
Amp's US store sells the amp device for $1,795, with complimentary white-glove installation, and a $36 a month membership on a 12-month minimum commitment, billed at installation. The device page lists resistance up to 100 lb and a space of 3 ft wide by 7 ft tall, and says it ships within 3 business days (amp.ai/product/amp-device, read November 4, 2026, 08:38 CET).
The self-install version, amp DIY, is $1,595 on the same store. The page shows $1,795 struck through beside it and "Save $200", so we treat $1,595 as a sale price, not a list price. Its membership is the same $36 a month on a 12-month minimum, billed when the device is delivered (amp.ai/product/amp-diy, read November 4, 2026, 08:38 CET).
On December 18, 2025, Amp Fit announced a voluntary recall of MP2 units sold online from January to August 2025, for a free inspection and repair of a part in the shoulder cap of the arm locking mechanism (amp.ai/blog/product-safety-recall).
Pick the amp device if you want an installer to set it up and 100 lb of resistance is enough for your lifts. Its ceiling is less than half of the Speediance's 220 lb, and the membership commitment runs for at least 12 months.

Brands we left out
Aviron's US shop lists rowers, treadmills and bikes, plus accessories such as a loadable weight set, so it is not a cable strength alternative. Its membership costs $29 a month billed yearly, $34 a month without a term, or $2,499 once for a perpetual plan, and Aviron says its machines work without a membership. Aviron's US shop has the full range.
Tempo's pages show monthly figures and financing, and we could not confirm one cash price for its home gym, so we did not compare it. OxeFit is left out because its US pages show device sections with no price, and its product links redirect to the home page. Vitruvian's US store sells an accessory kit and no Trainer+ device that we could find.
Who should buy which
- The Basic package suits a buyer who wants a lower entry cost than Tonal 2 or the Gym Monster 3 Core, and who will use the machine without a plan for most sessions.
- Works adds a flat bench for $144. Speediance's comparison list does not itemise the Works Plus or Family Plus contents, so check those package pages before paying the extra $252 or $540.
- Tonal 2 suits a buyer who wants a wall unit, coaching built in, and the rental option to leave at no fee.
- Amp suits a buyer who wants an installer to set up the device, can live with 100 lb of resistance, and will pay $36 a month on a 12-month minimum.
- Skip the Gym Monster 2 if you need more than 220 lb of resistance, or if you cannot move a 172 lb machine to the room you plan to use. A rower or a bike is a different job, and the best rowing machine list covers those.

Methodology
We read Speediance's US store, product, FAQ and membership pages, Tonal's US product, membership and rental pages, the Tonal 2 Glacier page, Aviron's US shop and membership pages, and Amp's US device, DIY and recall pages, on November 4, 2026. For Speediance we read the store's product data and the rendered page, and read the Basic package's cart total without checking out. It matched the listed sale figure with no automatic discount.
Alternatives are direct competitors that a buyer would cross-shop for a home strength machine, and each one needed a current price readable on its own US store. Tonal 2 is the most-named rival. The Gym Monster 3 is the same brand's newer model. Amp is the third because its own US store prints the device price and the installation terms. No paid placement decides the order, and this page carries no affiliate links.
Figures marked as computed come from the vendor prices on this page, before tax and delivery. Sale figures are shown as sale figures and crossed-out figures are not treated as list prices. Health features are reported as each vendor states them.
