Who Reads Techpresso? A Selected Subscriber Snapshot

Who reads Techpresso? Among 3,012 people in a selected recent-clicker cohort with a matching Dupple quiz response, 336 reported leadership and 261 reported engineering. This 5 November 2026 snapshot covers only a selected group of newer subscribers, not Techpresso's entire readership or a representative survey.

Published and updated 5 November 2026. Data extracted 5 November 2026.

Dupple publishes Techpresso and sells sponsorships in it. Our data comes from Dupple's own subscriber-segment cache and quiz database and has not been independently audited. Respondents supply their own role; the stored answer is not verified against a job title.

The roles in this selected cohort

The Techpresso cohort CSV starts with resolved email addresses in the Techpresso engagement cache last seen from 29 October through 4 November 2026 UTC. That segment is configured for active subscribers who signed up within 30 days and had at least one verified click within 30 days. We matched addresses to their latest available Dupple quiz answer. The matching and date rules are in the aggregation method.

The percentages use the 3,012 matched records as their denominator and are rounded to one decimal place. The quiz's own other response is separate from a missing role. These labels are the role fields stored in the quiz, not individually checked job descriptions. One person can work across functions, and the single selected label may not capture that complexity.

How the cohort was constructed

The starting file is not a list of every Techpresso subscriber. It is a cache of segment memberships used by Dupple's email-sequence system. The configured segment selects active, recently subscribed people with a verified click in the past 30 days. We kept records whose segment membership was last seen between 29 October and 4 November UTC and whose email had been resolved, then counted each normalized address once for this publication.

There were 5,254 resolved addresses in this selected group. Of those, 3,012 matched a quiz record and 2,242 did not. Only matched records enter the role percentages. An unresolved segment member is outside both counts. The cache records the last time a membership was seen, so an entry in this seven-day snapshot does not establish that its subscriber still qualified on 5 November. A failed or partial sync can also affect which memberships were seen.

For each matched address, the export picks the most recently created quiz record available at extraction, using a stable record identifier to break equal timestamps. Quiz records were not restricted to the seven-day segment window. The same address may have answered in a different Dupple flow or changed roles since answering. Matching an email associates records in Dupple's systems; it does not prove that a particular quiz response was completed after joining Techpresso.

Why the selection matters

Someone who recently subscribed and clicked a verified link is different from someone who has received the newsletter for years or has not clicked in that period. This group was selected for engagement, and not every member has a resolved email or a matching quiz. The data cannot establish the role breakdown among unmatched subscribers, non-clickers or the newsletter's full list. Do not multiply these percentages by the total subscriber count to estimate numbers of engineers, marketers or executives.

The figures also describe role labels, not a person's authority to purchase. A leadership response does not prove a buying decision, budget, employer size or interest in a specific sponsor. Engineering does not identify a programming language or security specialty. Ask for evidence relevant to the actual campaign rather than treating a broad job function as a guarantee of intent.

The Techpresso advertising page describes the newsletter and its available placements. Its subscriber and open-rate figures use a different source and population. The data hub publishes network-wide quiz and offer data with separate denominators. This page should be cited as a selected Techpresso cohort, with its extraction date and matching rules, rather than as a census of either source.

What advertisers can use this for

The mixed role distribution is a reason to check whether a message makes sense to more than one function. For a developer tool, a buyer could prepare a technically precise landing page and a separate explanation of its business use. For a marketing product, the advertiser might lead with a concrete workflow and define the outcome it hopes to measure. These are planning ideas, not claims that a given group will respond or buy.

Choose a placement based on the action and context. A Primary Ad appears within an issue, while a Dedicated Send is a separate sponsored email. The Primary Ad guide describes that in-issue format, and the newsletter buying guide covers proposal questions. None of the cohort counts is a forecast of views or clicks for either placement.

Request the publication, date, format and agreed reporting before buying. Decide how to tag the destination and what happens after the click. The sponsorship measurement guide explains how to distinguish a click from a downstream outcome. Dupple's lead generation page describes a separate post-signup product with its own targeting and reporting; do not use this Techpresso cohort as its inventory count.

How this differs from a network-wide quiz export

The network audience and lead dataset describes quiz respondents across Dupple's systems in a stated 90-day window. The Techpresso file instead starts with a recently seen publication segment and matches any latest available quiz response. They differ in how people enter, the dates attached to each event and whether a publication is identified. A person can appear in both without the files measuring the same population.

The country mix snapshot records geographic values from another quiz extract. It does not cross-tabulate countries with this Techpresso sample and is not a publication-specific distribution. Likewise, the AI tools snapshot describes technology-industry quiz respondents, not necessarily these selected Techpresso subscribers. Do not combine their percentages into a synthetic profile.

Other publishers collect and report audience information differently. daily.dev's audience page, checked 5 November 2026, describes its own developer audience and advertising context. It is not the source for the Techpresso numbers above. Before comparing two media kits, ask what each population includes, how roles were collected and when the figures were measured.

Reading the role table over time

A later export can change even if nobody edits a quiz answer. Segment memberships are refreshed, addresses are resolved at different times and the most recent quiz record for an address can change. The share of matched addresses can also change. Compare both the matched count and the unmatched count before interpreting a movement in any role percentage.

A decline in one share can reflect a larger count in another role rather than a decline in the first role's count. Rounding introduces small differences in totals. A useful recurring report would retain the window, selection rules and extraction date with each file, and would flag any change to the definition of a verified click or the newsletter segment.

What we cannot verify

We have not independently verified quiz answers, current job roles or whether a person reads every issue. We cannot infer the roles of addresses without a matching quiz, or the addresses whose segment records were unresolved. The segment's configuration describes its intended membership; this export does not independently recheck every subscription or click event. No names, email addresses, individual click histories or customer information appear in the downloadable aggregate.

A cache is a snapshot rather than a complete membership history. A person's response can be old, their address can appear in more than one publication and segment membership can change. The sample is neither random nor representative of every Techpresso reader. A future extraction may produce a different distribution.

FAQ

How many Techpresso records matched a quiz answer?

Of 5,254 resolved addresses in the selected recent engagement cache, 3,012 matched a quiz response. The other 2,242 did not match and are excluded from the role percentages.

Does this show every Techpresso subscriber?

No. It starts with a configured segment of newer subscribers with a verified click, last seen in the stated seven-day window. Unresolved records and people outside that segment are not included.

How many matched respondents selected engineering?

In this snapshot, 261 of 3,012 matched records selected the engineering role, or 8.7%. This is not an estimate for the full newsletter list.

Are these job titles independently verified?

No. They are role choices stored in Dupple's quiz. The response may be old and does not establish a person's current title or buying authority.

Can I use this to predict campaign results?

No. It is a selected role snapshot, not a report of an advertiser's impressions, leads, purchases or return on spend.
