Use Pollo AI’s consistent character feature to maintain the same character across multiple video clips

Pollo AI consistent character feature ensures uniform character appearance across multiple shots. It can be used for fun projects rather than professional branding, animation or promotional video clips. It preserves facial features, hairstyles, and clothing.

This tutorial shows you how to maintain consistent character in three short video clips. We'll try to create a promo video for a chocolate brand. The character photo will be the same across all three clips.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to:

  • Gather relevant images for the video
  • Tweak the consistent character video settings
  • Craft a prompt for the opening scene
  • Create a video for the middle scene
  • Create a video for the end scene

Let’s get into it!

Step 1 - Gather relevant images for the video

We need 3 images to create a consistent character video. The first image is a photo of the main character. It can be a male, a female, or a gender-neutral person. Depending on your preferences, you can generate an image of your favorite character and use that image to create a consistent-character video or a royalty-free image from the web. Use any photo that doesn’t get you into legal problems.

We will play it safe for this tutorial by generating the image of a male character we intend to use in our promo videos.

Go to Midjourney, click ‘Create’ and write a prompt for a character. Use the following to get inspiration.

Prompt

A young 25-year-old guy, a day old stubble, a strong jawline, high cheekbones, symmetrical facial features, a well-proportioned face, defined brow ridge, and a sharp chin. Slight muscular frame. Image on a light background. Muted cinematic mode, shot on cinestill flim –variation 2

Also, make sure that the stylization is set to 50. Click the arrow button or press ‘Enter.’

Here are the results. We selected the best one for the promo video. Notice the details. It’s really a good image for the video.

We need two more images to create a consistent character video. In our example, we will show a young man walking down a sidewalk in the city center. He gets hungry, so he dishes out chocolate from his pocket and starts eating it while walking. The second image will be the scenario, and the last one will be a product photo. Use a real product photo. We will use an Amedei chocolate bar.

Use the following prompt for the scenario picture.

Prompt:

Busy city center sidewalk, crowded with pedestrians, street vendors, and cyclists. Neon signs, tall buildings, and trees line the path. Vibrant urban atmosphere, evening time hustle.". Shot using a red camera with a Canon cine lens. –variation 2 –ar: 3:4

We chose the third one as it looks like a real still picture.

For the third image, we will use a real product to promote - An Amedei chocolate bar.

Step 2 - Tweak the consistent character video settings

Go to Pollo AI. Sign in to an account and click ‘AI Video Generator.’

Important tip: You need a paid account to create consistent character videos. Pollo gives you 10 credits in the free account, but the consistent character feature requires a minimum of 20 credits.

In the video editor, click ‘Consistent Character Video.’

The consistent character video editor has a familiar interface. You must upload at least one image to create the CC video. However, you must upload three images for a video to have context. You also need at least three images to create a promo video.

Select the 16:9 aspect ratio. Keep the video length to 4 seconds. Change the output resolution to 720p. This will cost an additional 30 credits, but since we are creating a professional promo video, we must ensure that the video's output quality is clear and can be used to promote the product/service. Keep the motion range to ‘Auto.’

Upload the images you generated or gathered from other sources. The first image should be the photo of the character. The sidewalk image should go next. Leave the third image placeholder blank for the opening scene.

Step 3 - Craft a prompt for the opening scene

Now comes the most critical step in creating a consistent character video - crafting the prompt. Remember, each video costs you 50 credits, so it’s vital to plan every action meticulously and include all necessary details. A well-thought-out prompt ensures the generator leaves nothing to chance.

Think about the opening scene in detail. A guy walking down the sidewalk soaking in the evening atmosphere, looking calm and happy. The sidewalk is busy. Other people are walking, too.

Prompt:

A well-dressed man strolls down a busy city sidewalk, hands in pockets, eyes wandering. He’s in no rush—just enjoying the moment as the city hums around him.

Click the ‘Create’ button.

The results are in.

The video looks good. Let's move on to the middle scene.

Step 4 - Create a video for the middle scene

The middle part of the video is about the same guy who is seen walking on a sidewalk in the opening scene. In this video, we will show the close of the man. He feels hungry while walking. A clear, restless expression appears on his face.

Upload the photo of a young guy as the first image and a picture of the sidewalk as the second image. Leave the third image blank. Use the following prompt for the middle scene.

Prompt:

The well-dressed man’s relaxed stroll shifts as he starts feeling restless. His gaze sharpens, and he absentmindedly pats his pockets, searching for something. His stomach rumbles—he’s a bit hungry. He checks his inner jacket pocket, then his trousers. He glances around, scanning the busy street, considering his next move. Cinematic mode. Shot with a Canon video camera.

Here are the results for the second video.

It followed the prompt reasonably well. Let’s move on to this tutorial's third and last video.

Step 5 - Create a video for the end scene

For the end scene, upload the Amedei chocolate as the third image. Use the following prompt to create the final scene of our promo video.

Prompt:

The man’s fingers finally find something in his pocket—a small bar of Amedei chocolate. His face lights up with relief and delight. He pulls it out, turning it over in his hands for a moment before tearing the wrapper open. As he takes a bite, his expression shifts to pure satisfaction. The city buzzes around him.

This is what Pollo AI generated for the third scene of the promotional video.

The character is consistent across all three video clips. But the chocolate part didn't come out well. We tried multiple prompts but Pollo didn't budge. There are some shortcomings, it need to address. It might not be useful for creating a product promo video because the product imagery is not consistent. We think this feature focuses on characters only. Anyways, use inVideo AI to merge all three clips into a promotional video. You can also upscale these videos with Pollo AI for 10 credits. Experiment with your prompts and create videos that will help you promote your products/services.
