Most of the AI video creation tools focus on visuals and background music. Freepik took the AI boom one step further and introduced Lipsync. Now your characters can talk—and not just with generic robotic tones, but with voices that feel natural and expressive.
This tutorial will show you how to create speech for your AI character. You’ll learn how to add your own voice, type the speech your character can say whatever you want it to say, or add a pre-recorded audio clip.
By the end of this incredible tutorial, you’ll be able to:
- Prepare an image for the video
- Configure the video parameters and create a video
- Make your character speak with Lipsync
- Upscale the video and the audio
Step 1 - Prepare an image for the video
Take an image - any image that reflects the idea you have for a video. In our example, we’ll use the image of a woman in her late 20s sitting on a couch and telling the viewers about famous songs.
Go to Freepik.com and create an account or log into an existing one.

Go to ‘Tools’ at the top of the screen. Click ‘AI image generator.’

The AI image generator has an intuitive interface. To get started, write a prompt that describes the photo you want for the AI video. Then, choose a mode. A mode is basically the AI model that creates the image. Choose an AI model that captures the true purpose of your prompt and generates an outstanding picture for your AI videos.
Quick Tip: You will need an essentials subscription to choose a better AI mode for your pictures. The essential plan costs around $7 to 8 euros a month.
Since we are showing you what can be done with a free account, we will keep the mode on default because Freepik only gives you enough time to test their service. No other latest models besides ‘Flux Fast’ are available for the free users. Use the following prompt to create a photo.
Prompt:
A young woman in her late 20s wearing a bright pink jumpsuit sitting on the armrest of a couch. She has a sleek body and a very striking demeanor. Hyperrealistic, professional documental photography, bright light from above. Shot with a Canon camera used for commercial films.

The style and characters are out of bounds in a free account. So we will not use them for our photo. You can, however, choose effects. Choose a vibrant effect or a soft hue.

Choose the default variation (4) and select the 9:16 aspect ratio for a social media post.
Click ‘Generate’ once you set up the image generation parameters.

We chose this one from four images Freepik generated for us. You can edit the image by correcting the colors and light exposure.
The image came out very good. The woman in the picture is gorgeous and has a clickable personality. We will use this photo to create a video for Freepik.
Step 2 - Configure the video parameters and create a video
Click the three-line link at the top right corner of the screen and click ‘AI video generator.

Pro tip: You need an essential subscription to upload the image for an AI video. The free account doesn’t offer image uploads.
Click the upload image button and upload the picture you just created.

Write a prompt that shows the lady talking about the 3 most popular movies of all time. Use the following to create a video for the lipsync feature.
Prompt:
Push In with a smooth transition towards the subject, focusing on the details of the face and the expression. The movement draws attention to the subject's pose and the surrounding elements, creating an engaging visual experience. Use an ultra-realistic, bright environment. Shot with a Panasonic Lumix S5 II.
Configure the video settings before hitting that tempting ‘Generate’ button. Select camera movement. Click the ‘Push In’ option. Next, select the duration of the video and the aspect ratio.

Click ‘Generate,’ and Freepik will process your video. This typically takes 8 to 20 minutes, as the servers handle multiple requests in a queue.
Step 3 - Make your character speak with Lipsync
Now that we have generated a fantastic video clip, it’s time to make our character speak. To do this, go to the videos in the sidebar menu.

Select a video from the list of generated videos. Then, click ‘Add Lipysync’ at the bottom right corner of the screen.

The Lipsync feature lets you upload a voice clip, record your own voice, or generate a voice from text. To simplify things, we’ll use the text-to-voice feature,
Select the voice for your character by clicking ‘Available voices’

Select a voice that matches your character’s personality. Type your words in the prompt box given below. Once everything is set up, click ‘Apply Lip Sync.’
Voice to text:
The three most famous songs are 'Like a Rolling Stone' by Bob Dylan, 'A Change Is Going to Come' by Sam Cooke, and 'Fight the Power' by Public Enemy.
Click ‘Preview.’ and play the voice clip. Change the text accordingly.
Click ‘Apply Lipsync’ once you’re satisfied with the voice.
Download the clip and upload it to your social media channels. It's going to be so cool to realize that you created a video clip with Lipsync.
That’s it, aspiring AI entrepreneurs. Make sure you experiment with the prompts. Create viral videos, product promo clips or service explainer video. You're only limited by your imagination. Freepik will give you everything you need to create fantastic viral videos.
