Learn how to generate winning pitch decks with AI in minutes.

Businesses all over the world rely on PowerPoint presentations to explain concepts, show proofs, pitch ideas, and share all sorts of knowledge.

A slide/pitch deck is a form of PowerPoint presentation that pitches ideas, convincing investors and other stakeholders to show interest and chip in to support the business.

Creating a winning pitch deck that summarizes the entire business idea, shows market potential, and shares the enthusiasm and resolve to make the business succeed in a single presentation is time-consuming, sweat-generating, and simply a tough job. But with the help of AI, you can get past the blank page dilemma and start writing that winning pitch deck.

This tutorial doesn’t give you the exact formula to write a winning pitch deck. Only you know how to do it. We are here to show you how to use the power of AI (Copilot, to be exact) to start rolling, get past the initial procrastination phase, and get into the game.

For this tutorial, you'll need:

  • Copilot Pro Subscription
  • Microsoft 365 Suite or Microsoft Office For Mac

At the end of this tutorial, you’ll be able to:

  • Create a content outline using natural progression
  • Generate the pitch deck and fine-tune it
  • Use The Designer Feature to Design The Pitch Deck
  • Find key points in the deck and get feedback

Let’s dive in and get started.

Step 1 - Create a content outline

Before writing a pitch deck or any other presentation, the first step is to create an outline showing the main key points and clarifying subtopics. This is where Copilot comes in super handy. Gone are the days when brainstorming took a good chunk of the day while you stared at the blank screen. A quick prompt generates a list of key points and any subtopics that might clarify them.

Remember, never copy the AI-generated content verbatim. Edit it to your satisfaction and finalize it.

Without further ado, let’s ask Copilot to generate an outline of the pitch deck.

Prompt:

Consider yourself one of the most successful startup founders. Create an outline of a pitch deck using natural progression for [describe the app in detail. More details mean better results]. Create at least [specify the number of key points and the number of slides for each point ]to convince investors. I am seeking [specify the terms and conditions of the investment here].

That is a winning outline for a pitch deck. The outline is perfect. However, there are a couple of points that need further details. I will ask Copilot to include them, and once that is done, we will move on to the actual presentation.

Prompt:

Edit the outline you just generated and clarify revenue projections. Make the expected revenue growth to 2 to 3 years instead of 3-5 years.

That’s more like it.

Now that we have a good outline, we can create the actual presentation.

🫴 Useful Tip: Instead of relying on AI to generate the outline, you can search for pitch decks with millions in funding online. Download or copy it and upload it on Copilot. It will create an outline based on the uploaded pitch deck file.

Step 2 - Generate the pitch deck and fine-tune it

We have reached the most exciting part of this tutorial. Open PowerPoint in Microsoft 365 and start with a blank presentation.

Load a template or design your own. Copilot doesn’t offer visual design yet. Find or download the template online, or keep it simple. Most pitch decks that became multi-million dollar companies had minimalist designs. Take a look at what we stitched together.

It might be simple or just plain ugly, but hey, it serves the purpose. Rentelator is a made-up company we brainstormed for this tutorial. So bear with us. The point is to show you how to create a pitch deck.

Once the slide is ready, go to the Copilot app integrated into the PowerPoint slide and generate an award-winning pitch deck with the following prompt.

Prompt:

Create a pitch deck with a slide for each key point you wrote for the rentelator.

And voila, it generated a wonderful pitch deck with design elements.

Polish it to ensure you get a good pitch deck to show investors. AI is not perfect. It gives you a populated template with which to work. Use AI as a tool, not a replacement for your skills and vision.

Since it didn’t pick up our simple template, incorporate your logo and the app name in the pitch deck it created.

Important to know: The more detailed you are with your prompt, the more aligned your presentation content will be with your vision.

You can add slides to your presentation using the prompt below.

Prompt:

Add a slide about the financial breakdown as a table.

The Copilot plugin is not very good at generating detailed information. If you use the standalone copilot app and generate a detailed outline for a presentation, you can copy the text and paste it into a Word document. Save the document and copy the link by clicking the share button.

Click a blank presentation and open the Copilot plugin. Click ‘Create a presentation from [file].

It will generate a presentation based on the outline you uploaded. It will read the Word file and create a slide based on the information in that file.

You can use the designer feature to change the slide deck's layout and image.

Step 3 - Use the designer feature to design the deck

If you’re like me, you didn’t like Copilot's design for this pitch deck. No problem! Head over to the designer section.

You can change the design of each slide. Select each and review the suggestions. Then, click the ones you like.

Important to know: We changed the slide design to a more professional look.

To change a picture in a slide, select the image to launch a floating options bar. Click ‘Change picture.’

Select the source of the new image and find a picture you like. We selected stock images and saw a picture that resonated with the text in the selected slide.

That looks pretty good. Once you have edited the slides to your liking, head over to the copilot and ask it to find key points in the deck and get feedback.

Step 4 - Find critical points in the deck and get feedback

With Copilot in PowerPoint, you can quickly grasp the key points of a presentation. Instead of going slide by slide, simply open Copilot and ask for a summary. It's an easy way to save time and understand the content effortlessly.

Prompt:

List key points of this presentation

You can also ask Copilot to show you the key slides.

Prompt:

Show me the most important slides.

There is a fantastic feature hidden in Copilot’s PowerPoint plugin. To access it, click the tiny icon that says ‘View Prompts’ at the bottom of the prompt input field.

It shows the list of prompts that are accepted by the Copilot plugin. Find a prompt that helps you edit slides, insert images, or extract key information.

Click the prompt you want to run and add the details for that prompt. We selected ‘Create an image of vacant rent spaces’ for this tutorial.

Insert the images in any of the generated slides. You can ask it to create pictures again. It all depends on how you want to do the presentation.

You’re now a PowerPoint expert with Copilot. Create professional presentations using your company’s branded templates in no time, and seamlessly navigate through any presentation to instantly grasp the key details.
