Streamline research and content discovery so you can spend less time scrolling and more time creating.

Social media has become a sort of nuisance these days. I mean, how many hours does a person waste doing doom scrolling? At least 3 to 5 hours daily. It seems like we are all zombies. Such is the mindless state of our affairs. One way to reduce doom scrolling and searching for interesting content mindlessly on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter is to get a summarized report of events using the Perplexity Comet browser. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not selling it on their behalf. Neither do I have an affiliate partnership with it. It’s a useful tool, especially when you want a summarized version of long content. Like, who reads long-form content anyway? It’s as boring as anything.

This tutorial is about showing you how to save time on social media by using Perplexity Comet to summarize the content for you so you can get over with it and do something meaningful with your life. We will show you how to download and access Perplexity Comet if you haven’t already done so. Then, we will teach you how to use clever prompting skills to get summaries of your favorite content. It can be used by marketers and other people to gather product/service trends or find the general sentiment people have for any topic. The use cases are endless.

By the end of this interesting tutorial, you’ll be able to:

  • Download and access Perplexity Comet
  • Define what you want the Comet to do
  • Write comprehensive prompts and get results.

Let’s get right into it!

Step 1 - Download and access Perplexity Comet

Since Comet is a browser with an AI assistant, you have to download it. It’s not a browser-based extension or anything like that. It’s a complete browser with Perplexity AI assistant integration. Go to Perplexity Comet and click ‘Download’ or ‘Get Comet.’

It’s available for both PC and Mac systems. Install the application on your computer and click to open it. Log in to a Pro account, and it’ll be ready to perform tasks according to your wishes.

When you open it, it feels like a regular browser. The difference is that an AI assistant is built right in. You don’t have to copy and paste text into another tool because the AI can see the page and work with it directly.

Step 2 - Define what you want the Comet to do

Figure out what you want Comet to do for you. Let’s say you’re on Twitter (X) looking at a thread. Normally, you might use the X search feature to find out about. And if you don’t, you will be stuck scrolling forever. With Comet’s Assistant, you can get down to business by typing a prompt and using AI to do your job. Comet is like your personal assistant who can do a lot of things.

For example, you have opened SaaS Mag. Instead of skimming gazillion tweets, fire up the assistant and give it a smart prompt to find you stuff.

Prompt

List the top 3 trends in SaaS since last week by skimming the contents of this thread on x.com

You can get more clarity and context about any text. Terms like ‘SaaS flipping’ or any technical concept might be confusing to understand. Just ask Comet to define it and explain the implications.

Prompt:

Please explain the term ‘SaaS flipping’ in an easy-to-understand context. What does it mean, and what are its implications?

Of course, you can write a post on Twitter, too. In fact, you can instruct Comet to post something on X.com, Facebook, and Instagram at the same time. Let’s say you want to post a motivational post on X.com. Use the following prompt.

Prompt:

Write a motivational post that says ‘Today is going to be a great day, let’s get after it. Post it on X.com.

In just seconds, it wrote the draft, popped open the Twitter/X composer, and lined it up for me to post. I was genuinely surprised at how seamless it felt.

Step 3 - Write comprehensive prompts and get results.

Apart from summarizing texts or providing more context for images and videos. It can post things on social media using your account. All you need to do is open the social media site and instruct it to write and post whatever you want to post. It will ask for permission. Click ‘Yes’ and you are good to go.

Let's say you want to post an article on LinkedIn. Use the following workflow to automate posting on LinkedIn.

Prompt:

Post this article on my LinkedIn with some good text for the post. Use #SaaSpredictions #SaaS tags. Here’s the link to the article:
https://cyclr.com/blog/saas-and-ipaas-integration-predictions-for-2025

When it asks for permission to post, click ‘Continue.’

Perfect. It posted the link within a minute. You can do this for multiple posts. The beauty of Comet is that its Assistant will perform separate jobs in separate tabs without intervention.

You can automate writing and submitting posts on all social media platforms. All you need is to open the site in a tab, give the Assistant instructions, and focus on other work while it does its job in the background.

And not only can it summarize stuff. It can access notifications and summarize everything for a super quick read.

Let’s say you want it to open LinkedIn notifications and give you a summary of the notifications.

Prompt:

Access my notifications and provide a summary of what needs my attention right away.

That’s perfect. The use cases are endless. Find the things that waste your time and use Comet to automate the mundane tasks while you focus on the important work.

That’s it for this tutorial, Comet visitors! The point of this tutorial is automation. You need to automate chores and mundane tasks to get the most out of your time. If you have only 6 hours to work, you can make the most out of it by automating tasks like browsing social media to gather information or doing stuff that requires hours to sit and sift through endless streams of scrolled data. It’s all about finding your mojo. Once you do that, you’ll never look back at your life without automation.
