Transform the endless stream of Reddit conversations into clear, actionable marketing and product insights.

Insights are a lifeline for marketers. Without insights, you’re blind. There is no way to figure out how your product is performing or how your marketing message is being received by the masses without those valuable insights. Then there are sentiments. How can you fine-tune your product or change your marketing campaigns without figuring out the sentiment of the masses? Sentiments are emotional attachments to the product. How many people love your product, and how many of them absolutely hate it? Without this kind of data, you are just an otter building your castle in the dark!

In this fantastic, yet realistic tutorial, we’ll show how to gather insights from Reddit. If you don’t know about Reddit, you are living under a rock. Reddit is an underrated goldmine for discovering customer pain points and their unfiltered feedback about the products. Seasoned marketers use Reddit to validate ideas, spot opportunities, and figure out market sentiment in different markets.

By the end of this tutorial, you’ll be able to:

  • Access Gumloop
  • Specify the subreddit in the Reddit generator
  • Run the workflow
  • Analyze the outputs and iterate on the results

Let’s dive in!

Step 1 - Access Gumloop

Of course, you need Gumloop to search Reddit for the topics that might be related to your product/service.

Go to Gumloop. Create an account because most of you might not have an account on Gumloop. If you do, you’re awesome. Log in instead of creating an account like us newbies.

Find Gumloop templates. Search for ‘Reddit Insights Generator’ and click the link in the search results.

Click ‘Copy template and get started.’

Step 2 - Specify the subreddit in the Reddit generator

So now you have your own copy of the Reddit insights generator. Zoom in on the first event and enter the following details.

  1. Subreddit name: Enter the name of the subreddit you want to search. It should be related to your product. Do a quick Google search to find the subreddits you think are related to your product. Let’s say you want to find out how the new Saucony Neon Green shoes are received by the fans. The famous subreddit for discussing running shoes is ‘runningshoegeeks.’
  2. Specify the topic related to your product: Find the topic where you think your affiliate product might be discussed. In our example, we will choose ‘Saucony neon green shoes.’
  3. Specify the top posts time period: Gumloop Reddit generator gives you two options: posts from the last week and posts from the last month. The last week might be too narrow for your search. It’s better to use the last month option.

This step makes experimenting simple. If you want to explore a new idea, just switch the topic or subreddit. It only takes a moment, with no extra setup involved.

The search is ready. Move on to the next step to execute it so we can get some juicy results.

Step 3 - Run the workflow.

All you need to do is run the workflow. That’s it. No need for any form-filling or configuration sprint. Click ‘Run’ at the top right of the screen and let the Reddit insights generator do its work.

First, gather the top posts that match your criteria.

Next, pull in not just the posts themselves, but also the comments, opinions, and surrounding context.

Then, organize everything into a clean string output.

When I first ran this, I was struck by how much sentiment data surfaced. It wasn’t just a plain list of posts — it highlighted underlying patterns, like:

  • Why do people buy NIke and ASICS
  • What kind of feature do they complain about
  • Whether people were excited or skeptical about new launches

Step 4 - Analyze the outputs and iterate on the results.

When Gumloop generates the results, you’ll receive:

  • An overview of the subreddit’s main themes (for example:race-trainer hybrid, cost sensitivity, fit and comfort challenges.’)
  • Real post examples with context (like: ‘I bought these shoes because I struggled with weight issues and shoe size’)
  • A sentiment breakdown showing whether the community feels excited, frustrated, or indifferent.

In our test run, we found out that the results good sentiment analysis and in-depth insights. However, the results were a few because we targeted specific running shoes brands.

Then, there were negative phrases included in the report. They referenced specific words that showed the real pain points such as, “sandpaper-like” material and “destroyed my toes.”

The best part is you don’t have to run this manually each time. With Gumloop, you can set up loops that keep the workflow running on a regular schedule, so you’re always up to date on how the market is thinking and feeling. It’s like having a constant pulse check without any extra effort.

That’s it for this tutorial, AI marketers. This gumloop trick is super easy to use and implement. It’s an inexpensive way to find out how your product/affiliate product is faring in the market, the sentiment of the buyers and the true pain-points that provide deep insight into the actual buying process. This is a dream come true for marketers. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll never look back.
