Visualize and interact with your data through interactive dashboards in just a few prompts

Creating dashboards can be a time-consuming and clearly boring task. In fact, the added value comes not from your ability to create dashboards in Excel, but from the insights they provide. The good news is that Claude (thanks to their new Artifacts feature) can now create a dashboard in seconds from any type of data (excel, PDF...), containing everything (and sometimes more) you'd like to have.

Key Objectives:

  • Creating the dashboard based on the data you provided
  • Customizing the dashboard and making sure it provides the right insights

Creating dashboards based on documents and data you provide

First, you need to go to Claude and if you don't already have one create an account (free or not).

Here, I'll be using this Arxiv study which I'd like summarized and more visually appealing.

Prompt:

Create an interactive PDF dashboard to help me view, test and learn this study in a more visually appealing way.

Not only does it make the study easier to understand, it's also way quicker, visual and overall so much more effective than having to read the full study. Note that these charts were not in the original study. Here, Claude used the tables from the study and decided to make charts from their data, making the experience really interactive.

A cool thing is that I can also ask Claude any questions I might have regarding the study or a term I did not understand.

Let's do the same with Alphabet earnings release from Q2 2024:

Customizing the dashboards

Sometimes the dashboard will lack a tab, an analysis or an important element.

Ask Claude to add it!

Prompt example (regarding Alphabet Earnings):

I want a tab explaining these results and what they could mean in the future.

You can also add features or just directly modify the dashboard's look.

Prompt example:

Add a darkmode feature to the dashboard

You can also modify the overall look of the dashboard.

Prompt example for Alphabet:

Add Alphabet's logo somewhere in the dashboard and make sure it's branded after Alphabet. I want its look to be as professional as possible.

You now have an Alphabet-branded dashboard that looks super professional and that is easily shareable thanks to the "Publish" button.
