🚫 US Government Agency Warns Against Storing Money on VenmoLINK
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has warned Americans against storing large amounts of money in popular payment apps like Venmo, PayPal, and Cash App due to lack of federal insurance.
Despite their popularity, with about 76% of Americans reportedly having used such apps, the CFPB stressed that these are not federally regulated banks and deposits are not insured as in traditional banks.
The CFPB found that user agreements often lack information about whether funds can be insured, or if they may be used for other purposes within the company while held in the app.
📺 YouTube Changes Misinformation Policy, Allowing False Election ClaimsLINK
YouTube announced it will no longer remove content falsely claiming the 2020 election or other past U.S. presidential elections were marred by "widespread fraud, errors or glitches."
The decision is an attempt to protect the ability to "openly debate political ideas," despite the controversy and disproven assumptions, as removal could curb political speech and not significantly reduce the risk of violence or real-world harm.
However, the platform will continue to remove content that tries to deceive voters in upcoming elections such as the 2024 election, and its other rules against election misinformation remain unchanged.
🎮 AI Leverages GPT-4 to Master MinecraftLINK
An AI researcher at Nvidia, Linxi “Jim” Fan, and his team created a Minecraft bot named Voyager that employs the GPT-4 language model to solve in-game problems and improve over time.
Voyager uses GPT-4 to generate objectives and corresponding code to achieve these goals, refining its approach based on feedback and error messages, thereby building a code library to handle increasingly complex tasks.
With Voyager's success in Minecraft, there is potential for adapting this technology for automating routine office tasks or developing software assistants that can automate tasks via operating systems on PCs or phones.
