🚀 SpaceX announces world's first human polar missionLINK
SpaceX will conduct the first-ever human spaceflight over Earth’s poles before the end of this year, led by Chinese-born cryptocurrency entrepreneur Chun Wang, along with a polar explorer, a roboticist, and a filmmaker.
The Fram2 mission, named after the Norwegian research ship Fram, will launch from Florida, fly directly over the north and south poles, and is timed for maximum lighting over Antarctica near the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere.
This mission will be SpaceX's third Crew Dragon venture, featuring the Endurance spacecraft, and Wang hopes it will enhance humanity's understanding of the Earth’s poles while inspiring interest in space exploration.
📱 iPhone 17 Air rumored for 2025 releaseLINK
Rumors suggest that Apple might release a new “iPhone Slim” model, which initially seemed to be an ultra high-end device, but has since shifted to the idea of an "iPhone Air" version.
DSCC analyst Ross Young indicated that Apple plans to replace the mid-range iPhone Plus with a slimmer model featuring a 6.5-inch display, as opposed to the current 6.7 inches in the existing models.
Mark Gurman reported that the intended "iPhone Air" would fit between the entry-level iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro, offering a more attractive design than the standard model without the advanced features of the Pro versions.
🍎 Apple comes under fire for Patreon commissionLINK
Apple is facing criticism for imposing a 30% commission on Patreon subscriptions made through its iOS app, which could either reduce creators' earnings or increase costs for supporters. Commentators argue that Apple’s decision degrades its brand by negatively impacting independent creators, who rely on platforms like Patreon for income. Critics, including John Gruber and Macworld, accuse Apple of providing 'negative value' by enforcing a model that prioritizes its revenue over the needs of small creators.
🛡️ Massive data leak may include the personal data of every person in the US, UK, and CanadaLINK
A massive data leak affecting around 2.7 billion records may include sensitive personal information for every individual in the US, UK, and Canada.
The data, reportedly from a company called National Public Data, includes non-encrypted records with names, mailing addresses, and social security numbers, among other details.
The number of records is higher than the combined populations of the three countries due to multiple entries for different addresses, and the data appears to have come from an outdated backup.
🧠 New AI can diagnose stroke via tongue colorLINK
An AI developed by researchers at Middle Technical University and the University of South Australia can diagnose stroke by analyzing the color of a person's tongue.
The advanced algorithm, which boasts a 98% accuracy rate, can also detect conditions such as anaemia, asthma, diabetes, liver, and gallbladder issues, COVID-19, and various gastrointestinal diseases.
This innovative system uses tongue color analysis, an ancient technique from traditional Chinese medicine, and could potentially be adapted for use with smartphones for real-time health assessments.
