🤖 AI superintelligence could arrive in 'few thousand days'LINK
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, believes that artificial superintelligence could be achieved within "a few thousand days," emphasizing this milestone as a pivotal moment in human history.
Altman stresses the importance of investing in computing resources and infrastructural improvements to make AI widely accessible and prevent it from becoming a limited resource.
Safe Superintelligence (SSI), a new startup co-founded by former OpenAI members, has raised $1 billion to fund the development of a secure superintelligence system, supported by major venture capital firms.
👀 Telegram will now provide user info to governments in response to legal requestsLINK
Telegram's updated privacy policy states the company will share a user's phone number and IP address with authorities if the individual is a criminal suspect, based on a legally valid request.
The change follows the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, who French authorities accused of allowing illegal activity on the platform, prompting Telegram to take measures against such abuses.
Telegram’s announcement includes a commitment to disclosing user information to authorities in its quarterly reports and employing AI to identify and remove content that violates the platform's rules.
🦾 Boston Dynamics robots can now autonomously unlock doorsLINK
Assa Abloy, a prominent Swedish company in the lock and security business, is teaming up with Boston Dynamics to develop a digital door access system for autonomous entry by Spot robots.
This system leverages Bluetooth technology to allow Boston Dynamics’ Spot robots to communicate with Assa Abloy’s HID-branded Signo readers, enabling hassle-free access through automatic doors.
Given Assa Abloy’s extensive global footprint in door access solutions, their collaboration with Boston Dynamics could accelerate the adoption of robot security patrols in commercial buildings.
🤔 Kaspersky deletes itself, installs UltraAV antivirus without warningLINK
Several Kaspersky customers in the United States found that their antivirus software was automatically replaced with UltraAV without prior notice, according to social media reports.
Kaspersky partnered with American cybersecurity firm Pango to transition users to UltraAV, ensuring no gap in protection after the U.S. government banned Kaspersky sales effective July 20.
Despite some reports of receiving emails about the transition, many users expressed frustration over the lack of clear communication and the forced installation of new software.
🤷♂️ X will soon let blocked users see your public postsLINK
X will now allow blocked users to see your public posts, as confirmed by Elon Musk on Monday.
Previously, the platform showed a "You’re blocked" message and restricted all content, including replies and media, from blocked profiles.
Despite Musk's criticism of the block feature, the update means blocked accounts can still view posts, which may lead to ongoing harassment issues.
