A Techpresso Primary Ad is a sponsored placement near the top of a regular issue; a Spotlight is a shorter sponsored placement later in that issue; a Dedicated Send is a standalone sponsor email. Choose the format for the message, available issue and reporting you need, then confirm current terms in the proposal. No format guarantees clicks or sales.

*Published and updated 5 November 2026. Sources checked 5 November 2026.*

Dupple publishes Techpresso, AIpresso, Devshot, Cyberpresso, Finpresso and MarketingShot, and sells newsletter sponsorships and dedicated sends. The comparison below describes Dupple's own formats, so Dupple has a commercial interest in all three. Specifications and availability can change.

## Compare the placement first

Dupple's [Primary Ad page](https://dupple.com/advertise/primary-ad), [Spotlight page](https://dupple.com/advertise/spotlight-ad) and [Dedicated Send page](https://dupple.com/advertise/dedicated-send), checked 5 November 2026, describe three different placements. A regular issue contains editorial material and sponsor placements; a Dedicated Send is a separate email focused on the advertiser's message. Request the actual preview and specifications for the proposed campaign rather than assuming that every publication uses the same labels.

Table: how Dupple describes Techpresso formats on its own format pages, checked 5 November 2026. Terms for a specific booking require confirmation.

*Compare the placement first: Primary Ad vs Spotlight vs Dedicated Send. Checked November 2026.*

| Decision | Primary Ad | Spotlight Ad | Dedicated Send |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Email context | Placement in a regular Techpresso issue | Placement in a regular Techpresso issue | Separate sponsor-focused email |
| Position | First sponsored placement, near the top | A later sponsored placement in the issue | The email is dedicated to the advertiser |
| Message | Longer in-issue copy in the described format | Shorter in-issue copy in the described format | Subject and body for a standalone message |
| Creative | Image and copy described on the format page | Image and shorter copy described on the format page | Email copy and links, subject to review |
| Links | Format page describes up to two | Format page describes one | Confirm the approved links for the proposal |
| Approval | Confirm the draft, claims and deadline | Confirm the draft, claims and deadline | Confirm the subject, copy and final send |
| Timing | Confirm the issue and available slot | Confirm the issue and available slot | Confirm the date and send schedule |
| Reporting | Agree on the actual fields and definitions | Agree on the actual fields and definitions | Agree on the actual fields and definitions |

The format names describe Dupple's products; another publisher may use the same words differently. A shorter placement does not automatically cost less per qualified lead, and a longer message does not automatically produce more sales. Price and availability must be confirmed for the specific proposal.

## Decide what the message needs to do

Start with the reader's problem and the desired action. A concise invitation to read a guide may need less explanation than an offer with a complex eligibility condition. For either in-issue format, the landing page should make the offer and any material conditions clear. A Dedicated Send provides a standalone email, but it still needs a clear subject, supported claims and a destination that works on mobile.

For example, a fictional database vendor might use a Spotlight to introduce a technical guide with one destination, a Primary Ad to explain a product workflow in an issue, or a Dedicated Send for a longer explanation of a launch. The appropriate choice depends on the actual message, budget and available dates. This example is invented; it is not a customer campaign or evidence of relative performance.

The [sponsorship briefing guide](https://dupple.com/learn/how-to-brief-a-newsletter-sponsorship) covers the information to provide: intended reader, offer, evidence for claims, destination, creative assets and approval owner. Ask the publisher which format constraints apply to your booking. A format page's example word count is not a promise that every draft will be accepted without review.

## Check the publication and audience evidence

Ask which publication and issue or send date the proposal covers. [Techpresso's advertising page](https://dupple.com/advertise/techpresso) describes that publication, while the [audience data hub](https://dupple.com/advertise/data) explains Dupple's subscriber and self-reported quiz sources and their limits. A subscriber count or quiz segment does not guarantee who will receive, open or act on one specific placement.

Dupple cannot target newsletter placements by role or company size. Post-signup Lead Generation is a separate product and is not a newsletter audience filter. If a proposed campaign includes several products, ask which audience selection, creative and reporting terms apply to each one. Do not convert a descriptive audience breakdown into a list of individually targeted recipients.

For context, [daily.dev's email page](https://business.daily.dev/email/), checked 5 November 2026, describes its personalized developer Digest and topical tracks. [Paved's advertiser page](https://www.paved.com/advertisers), checked the same day, describes its marketplace workflow. They are different products with their own terms. Their pages do not establish comparable audiences or outcomes for a particular placement.

## Confirm the booking and approvals

A format description does not reserve inventory. Confirm the issue or send date, the party responsible for the copy and assets, the review deadline and what happens if the date or destination changes. Keep the final proposal and approved version together. If a claim changes after approval, send the revised wording for review.

The [booking lead-time data](https://dupple.com/advertise/data/booking-lead-time) describes eligible historical Dupple placements and its method; it is not a guarantee that a specific issue is available or that creative will be approved within a fixed period. Ask about the actual schedule. The [agency guide](https://dupple.com/learn/how-agencies-buy-newsletter-sponsorships) explains how to assign client and agency approval responsibilities.

Do not assume that a booking includes a particular list of reader identities or a specific number of company domains. Dupple's format pages describe reporting, but the deliverables, definitions and permitted data use for a specific campaign need to be confirmed in the proposal. Keep that decision separate from any product or data not included in the placement.

## Keep the creative versions distinct

A regular newsletter issue already has an editorial structure. A short Spotlight should give the reader enough context to decide whether to follow its link; a Primary Ad can accommodate a longer in-issue explanation under the published specification. For a Dedicated Send, the subject line and body must work as a complete email. These are planning considerations, not claims that one placement is inherently more persuasive.

Before approval, check the spelling of the product name, the evidence behind each factual statement and the exact destination. If the advertiser uses a time-limited offer, confirm that the dates match the planned issue or send. Open a preview on a phone and verify that the link still works after any tracking redirect. Assign one person to collect corrections so the publisher receives a single final version.

## Set reporting definitions before launch

Ask what a publisher means by a click, a unique click, an open and a delivery, and which date range and filtering apply. Confirm whether the report identifies the sponsor's individual link or a broader issue measure. A click is not automatically a session, lead or sale; link tests, redirects, consent and analytics configuration can affect the numbers.

Use a campaign-specific URL and test it through redirects before the send. The [GA4 guide](https://dupple.com/learn/how-to-track-newsletter-sponsorships-in-ga4) explains why analytics sessions may differ from a publisher's click count. The [ROI guide](https://dupple.com/learn/measure-newsletter-sponsorship-roi) discusses matching the cost and outcome window. Define the business action and follow-up owner before the placement runs.

Dupple's [issue metric audit](https://dupple.com/data/dupple-issue-metric-pair-audit-method-2026-11-05.txt) describes how email campaign totals were copied to matching Main and Spotlight slot records in a historical Techpresso sample. This unaudited observation concerns those stored fields, not every report, an individual ad's result or a Dedicated Send. Ask for the definition of each field in the actual report rather than assuming every issue-level number is specific to your link.

For an in-issue placement, ask whether the publisher can identify the sponsor destination separately from other links in the issue. For a Dedicated Send, agree on which links and actions the report covers. If a measurement is unavailable, record that limitation before comparing the formats; do not fill the gap with an assumed result.

## Choose a test you can interpret

Write the question in advance. If the goal is to test whether a technical offer earns visits from readers of a particular publication, choose a clear destination and a measurable action. If the goal is to explain a more complex product, consider whether the message needs a standalone email or whether an in-issue placement plus a useful landing page is enough.

Keep a record of the chosen format, publication, date, creative, cost and follow-up period. Comparing a Primary Ad with a Dedicated Send on different dates and with different copy does not isolate the effect of format. A small number of placements cannot establish a general benchmark. Use the [first sponsorship test guide](https://dupple.com/learn/first-newsletter-sponsorship-test) to plan the next decision and any repeat test.

## What we could not verify

Dupple's format pages describe its own products and have not been independently audited. We cannot predict current inventory, approval timing, clicks, leads, sales or the relative performance of these formats for a particular advertiser. Historical issue metrics do not establish ad-specific results for every campaign. Other publishers' descriptions and terms can change.

## FAQ

**What is the main difference between Primary and Spotlight?**

Dupple describes both as sponsored placements in a regular issue. Its Primary page describes the first sponsored position; its Spotlight page describes a later, shorter placement. Confirm the current specification.

**Is a Dedicated Send part of the regular newsletter issue?**

Dupple describes it as a separate sponsor-focused email. Confirm the publication, date and creative terms for the proposed send.

**Does the longer format guarantee more leads?**

No. Results depend on the audience, offer, creative, destination, timing and measurement, among other factors.

**Can I choose a particular role within a Dupple newsletter?**

Role and company-size cuts cannot be used to target newsletter placements. Post-signup Lead Generation is a separate product.

**What reporting should I request?**

Ask for the actual fields, their definitions, whether they describe your link or the issue, the reporting period and permitted data use. Do not assume a list of individual readers is included.
