Generate leads for strategic planning software by demonstrating a specific portfolio decision, the assumptions behind it and the next action a team can take. Define qualification before a campaign begins. A strategy-role quiz answer, a newsletter click and a qualified software buyer are different observations.

Dupple sells newsletter sponsorships and post-signup Lead Generation, giving us a commercial interest in this comparison. The sample portfolio below is invented; no customer result is represented.

## Demonstrate a decision across initiatives

A strategic-planning product may help a team compare initiatives, document assumptions, review dependencies or communicate a plan. The people involved can include strategy, finance, operations and business leaders, and their roles vary by organization. A person who reports a strategy role is not automatically responsible for software procurement or interested in a particular tool.

For a fictional portfolio-planning product, a team could compare two initiatives that depend on the same specialist group. The sample might show each initiative's owner, expected milestone, dependency and the decision a reviewer needs to make. If the product does not calculate capacity or forecast outcomes, say so. A diagram of two sample initiatives does not establish how the product will perform across a real enterprise portfolio.

[Asana's portfolio documentation](https://help.asana.com/s/article/portfolios-overview?language=en_US) describes organizing projects and monitoring their status in Asana, subject to its own availability conditions. [Atlassian's Jira planning documentation](https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/what-are-dependencies-in-advanced-roadmaps/) describes how dependencies appear in its plans, with its own edition requirements. These sources describe the named products; they do not verify the fictional tool's capabilities or any integration between them.

## Our data: a selected strategy-role signal

The 5 November 2026 [Techpresso role extract](https://dupple.com/data/dupple-techpresso-engaged-quiz-roles-2026-11-05.csv) reports 98 strategy answers among 3,012 matched quiz records. The starting cache contained 5,254 resolved addresses: 2,242 had no matching answer and were excluded from role shares. The [method](https://dupple.com/data/dupple-engaged-quiz-roles-method-2026-11-05.txt) and [cohort page](https://dupple.com/advertise/data/who-reads-techpresso) describe how those records were selected and joined.

The source is a recent-engagement cache, not a representative sample of an issue or the full subscriber base. Its selected newer-subscriber records were last seen between 29 October and 4 November 2026 UTC. A stored response can be old or originate in another signup flow; stale membership or an incomplete sync can change the group. Respondents supplied their own role, so the data cannot establish a current title, employer, budget or planning-software need. No independent party has audited Dupple's figures.

The 98-person subgroup is small. It is useful as a description of that selected sample, not as a forecast of lead supply or proof that a newsletter can be delivered only to strategy professionals. Role and company-size selection is discussed for Dupple's separate post-signup Lead Generation product; ask what options and terms apply to the actual proposal rather than deriving them from the aggregate.

## Make the offer useful to the planner

An offer might be a sample portfolio, a documented dependency review or a conversation about an existing planning process. Explain what the person receives, whether an account is required and which information is needed to follow up. Someone opening a worksheet is not automatically asking for a sales call; make the next step clear.

In the fictional example, a read-only portfolio could show two initiatives, their owners and an unresolved dependency. A separate evaluation could let an authorized user edit an assumption and see how the product presents the change, if the product actually supports that workflow. Explain whether the sample uses generated data, whether an external project system is needed and what the tool cannot infer. This is a planning illustration, not a measured customer outcome.

| Evaluation question | Example material | Qualification question |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What is being planned? | A sample portfolio and scope | Which initiatives or decisions are involved? |
| How are dependencies shown? | A documented relationship between tasks | What systems hold the source information? |
| Who can change assumptions? | Current access and approval details | Which roles review or edit the plan? |
| How is progress shared? | A report or export example | What format and cadence does the team need? |
| What follows a request? | A clear evaluation and response route | Did the person request that follow-up? |

Table: questions for a strategic-planning evaluation, ordered from portfolio scope to follow-up.

## Choose distribution for the planning problem

A technical article can explain how to document a dependency without implying that every organization uses the same methodology. A comparison can discuss an actual portfolio or access difference when it cites each product's current primary documentation and its limitations. A relevant professional community may be useful if its rules permit participation and commercial relationships are disclosed. A newsletter placement can introduce a practical example; none of these channels guarantees a qualified lead.

For a newsletter placement, ask the publisher which edition will carry the portfolio example and how creative approval and reporting work. Dupple sells sponsorships in [Techpresso](https://dupple.com/advertise/techpresso), but its broad technology readership is not a measured population of strategic-planning buyers. Use the [buying guide](https://dupple.com/learn/how-to-buy-newsletter-ads) and [first-test guide](https://dupple.com/learn/first-newsletter-sponsorship-test) to prepare the placement questions.

For post-signup Lead Generation, ask how the offer is displayed, which selection options actually apply, what the person is told and which information the advertiser may receive and use. A newsletter placement should not be assumed to supply individual reader identities or company-domain reports. These are separate products with proposal-specific terms. The [audience data page](https://dupple.com/advertise/data) explains Dupple's published aggregates and limits.

## Define fit and follow-up separately

A click records a link interaction under a particular measurement method. A person who opens a sample portfolio may be exploring the topic; that does not establish that their organization is replacing its planning system. A qualified request may require an identified planning task, a relevant operating context and a requested follow-up, depending on the offer and applicable terms. Write the definition before the test.

For the fictional portfolio, one visitor may inspect the sample without providing contact details. Another may request a discussion about dependencies across departments. Route a requested follow-up under the actual product, permission and privacy terms; do not infer the person's company, seniority or purchasing authority from the strategy-role aggregate. This scenario is fictional and does not establish a conversion rate.

Agree who receives a request, what fields are necessary and how corrections are handled. A sales-accepted opportunity is a separate team-defined event. If a product stores strategic plans or commercially sensitive assumptions, document its actual access, retention and sharing controls and obtain appropriate advice for the relevant jurisdictions. This guide cannot determine a legal basis for an unspecified campaign.

## Measure the workflow and the handoff

Record the publisher's link count beside, not merged with, the advertiser's sessions, sample-portfolio actions and sales records. Each has its own timing and coverage; redirects, consent settings and missing identifiers can prevent a complete match. Campaign labels classify recorded traffic but do not establish that an ad caused a purchase. See the [GA4 guide](https://dupple.com/learn/how-to-track-newsletter-sponsorships-in-ga4) and [ROI guide](https://dupple.com/learn/measure-newsletter-sponsorship-roi) for measurement choices.

Within the product, a defined event could be reviewing the sample dependency or changing an assumption, if the product supports it and the team is permitted to collect the event. A completed sample does not establish that an organization will buy. If requests concern project execution instead of portfolio decisions, inspect the offer's wording and qualification criteria rather than applying a universal conversion benchmark.

The [operations software lead guide](https://dupple.com/learn/lead-generation-for-operations-software) addresses an adjacent execution context, while the [product-management lead guide](https://dupple.com/learn/lead-generation-for-product-management-software) discusses another planning workflow. Do not add their role counts to this selected Techpresso sample as if the populations were independent or non-overlapping.

## What we could not verify

We cannot determine how many people in the selected strategy-role subgroup use planning software, own a portfolio, control a budget, read a particular issue or will become leads. The subgroup is small and selected, the answers are self-reported, and cache staleness and cross-flow matching can affect the result. Dupple's first-party data has not been independently audited. We have not established a universal acquisition cost, conversion rate or future lead volume. Asana and [Atlassian](https://dupple.com/reviews/atlassian) sources describe their own products, not the fictional tool.

## FAQ

**What should a strategic-planning lead offer show?**

Show a specific portfolio decision, its assumptions, the relevant roles and the next step. Explain which calculations or integrations the product does and does not support.

**Are the 98 strategy-role respondents all Techpresso strategy readers?**

No. They are self-reported answers in a selected matched engagement-cache sample, with the window, unmatched records and limits described above.

**Does a strategy-role answer prove someone buys planning software?**

No. It does not establish the person's current title, portfolio responsibility, budget or intent.

**Can a newsletter placement target every recipient by role?**

A newsletter placement should not be assumed to select strategy roles. Ask about the separate post-signup Lead Generation product and its actual selection and data-use terms.

**Does viewing a sample portfolio equal a qualified lead?**

No. Inspecting a portfolio is a content interaction. An opportunity needs the team's own qualification criteria and an appropriate requested follow-up.
